On 01/16/2026, at approximately 2326 hours, Lt. Sheldon Mayfield was engaged in providing security for the Garden Bar located at 314 E Solomon St. During that time, Mayfield was approached by the bar manager who advised him that a white male seat at the bar wearing a green sweater needed to leave. The manager stated that the male was intoxicated and causing problems with other patrons seated at the bar.

Prior to this contact, Mayfield was advised by an unknown female that this same subject was about to enter the bar and was revving up his mercedes on E Solomon St while shouting curse words at him. Mayfield advised her that he would monitor his actions to maintain the peace within the establishment.

Upon approaching the subject, Mayfield advised the subject the management of the establishment wanted him to vacate the premises. The male told Mayfield he wasn’t going anywhere until his finished his beer. Mayfield noted that the subject was holding an alcoholic beverage in his hand while speaking in a slurred manner. Mayfield told the subject he needed to the leave the establishment at that very moment and told him to get up. The male continued resisting passively and continued stating verbally that he didn’t have to go anywhere. AT the time, Mayfield warned him once more that he could either leave the location or be made to.

After that warning, Mayfield noted that the subject became irritated and continued telling Mayfield to make him. Mayfield grabbed the subject by the arm in the attempt to get him out of his chair and walk him outside. The subject stood up while snatching his arm from Mayfield and telling him to get his hands off of him. Mayfield grabbed the subject by his shirt collar and began to escort him toward the door. In that process, the subject began to yell at Mayfield and push back in an attempt to stop himself from leaving. Mayfield shoved the subject from that position, out the door and continued escorting him out of the establishment.

Mayfield ordered the subject to leave the property before he escalated the situation anymore. Mayfield told the subject not to return and continued walking him toward E Solomon St to leave. The subject began cursing out loud while other people were looking and threatening to have Mayfield fired from his job while saying “You must not know who I am”. Once the subject reached E Solomon St, Mayfield told him he needed to calm down due to him causing a disturbance. The subject was still loud and belligerent during the encounter while being told to leave and calm down. As the subject walked toward the intersection of E Solomon St and N 5th St, Mayfield told him to stop yelling and cursing due to his intoxicated state. The subject told Mayfield “Fu*k You” and proceeded to refer to Mayfield as a “Ni*ga”.

At that time, Mayfield advised the subject he was under arrest for Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct, Mayfield attempted to detain the subject by his shirt and attempt to flee. Mayfield quickly maintained a hold ofthe back of his shirt collar as he tried pushing away. Mayfield grabbed the subject by his hips and physically placed him on the ground, established control of his right arm and ordered him not to move. Mayfield was able to place the subject in handcuffs behind his back to proper fit and advised him he was under arrest additionally for Obstruction.

Mayfield asked the subject for his name and he replied Colton Hall. Hall was searched for any weapons or contraband on his person in which none were found. Mayfield advised Hall he was criminally trespassed from 314 E Solomon St and would be arrested if he returned. Hall continued acting irate as additionally Griffin PD officers responded to assist.

Hall was transported to the Spalding County Sheriff s Office by Griffin PD personnel where he was released into custody to await warrants. Hall was charged with Obstruction, Public Drunkeness and Disorderly Conduct. Mayfield will obtain warrants on 01/18/2026 through the Spalding County Magistrate Court.
