On August 12, 2023 I, Deputy J. Holloman responded in emergency mode to [200 BLOCK] Liberty Hill Road in reference to an assault.

I met with [VICTIM #1] (White / Male, /1959). He told me that he was asleep when he heard a noise outside. He went outside to see what was going on. He stated two men in a older model blue pick up truck came onto his property and started yelling at him about being on their property. He stated they had baseball bats. The older man, who [VICTIM #1] said was James Smith, swung his bat at [VICTIM #1] and struck his right hand, causing it to bleed.

[VICTIM #1] stated that the younger man, who he identified as Steven Smith (White / Male, /1995), struck him on his left hip with a bat leaving a bruise. [VICTIM #1] stated that James and Steven both swung multiple times but missed.

(White / Male, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated he was asleep on the front porch and heard the commotion. He got up and threw a trash can striking James. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] helped James up and they left.

[VICTIM #1] stated there was a female standing at the truck holding what he claimed to be a knife. He identified her as [REDACTED].

[VICTIM #1] Identified [REDACTED BY AGENCY] by a picture in RMS. I found James Smith (White / Male,/1956) in RMS with relation to [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. I also found [REDACTED] (White / Female, /1982) in RMS with a relation to [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

[VICTIM #1] stated his ex-wife reached out and stated that James and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were at her residence on Vineyard Road asking about an ATV. [VICTIM #1] stated he did not know why he was attacked. There were not any third party witnesses or cameras.

[VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED] wrote statements. [VICTIM #1] refused medical attention. Photos were taken of [VICTIM #1]. Lieutenant A. Degler and Sergeant A. Hammond (CID) were notified.

I did not take warrants on [James] or [REDACTED BY AGENCY], I do not have enough independent evidence to charge them.
