On 02/16/2023 at approximately 1942 hours I, Deputy Rhodes responded in non-emergency mode to 601 S 8th St in reference to a gun shot victim.

Upon my arrival I made contact with Sgt. Harper with the Griffin Police Department, who stated the gun shot victim, a Jonathan Morales, had a gun shot wound to his left fore arm and when asked what happened he refused to talk. Sgt. Harper also stated he was driven to the hospital by his friend, a [WITNESS #1], who was in the conference room.

I made contact with [WITNESS #1] and asked him what happened, he stated they were at a party in wolf creek and Morales shot himself in the hand. [WITNESS #1] stated he called his mother who came to wolf creek to pick them up and bring him to the hospital.

I asked [WITNESS #1] where the incident happened as far as the house number, he stated he didn’t know. I asked [WITNESS #1] whos party it was, he stated he didn’t know. I asked [WITNESS #1] where exactly in wolf creek did this incident take place, he stated it happened at [200 BLOCK] Timber Wolf Trl. I asked if the incident occurred inside or outside, [WITNESS #1] stated it happened in the kitchen. I asked [WITNESS #1] about the gun and whos gun it was, he stated he did not know and that he didn’t want to answer anymore questions.

Deputies responded to [200 BLOCK] Timber Wolf Trl to locate the crime scene but [200 BLOCK] Timber Wolf Trl was a vacant residence.

I had contact with Morales in emergency room number 5. I asked Morales what happened. Morales stated he was at a kick back and was handed a gun to look at. Morales stated he looked at the gun and pulled the trigger which caused him to shoot himself in the arm. Morales had a single gunshot wound to the left fore arm.

I captured photos of the gun shot wound. I asked Morales how he got to the hospital, he stated [WITNESS #1]s mother drove him to the hospital. I asked Morales how he got to Wolf Creek, he stated he was going to drop [WITNESS #1] off. I asked Morales where his vehicle was, Morales stated he did not have a vehicle. I asked Morales how he got to wolf creek, he stated he got a ride. Morales then stated he did not want to answer anymore questions.

I made contact with Investigator Phillips, He arrived on scene and I turned the case over to Investigator Phillips.
