On 03/13/2026, I, Deputy Bean, responded in non-emergency mode to [100 BLOCK] Laprade Rd in reference to a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, I made contact with the caller, [WITNESS #1] (W/F, DOB /1979). Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that she is the home health nurse assigned to a patient at the residence. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that while she was inside the residence, a male identified as Michael Hardy (W/M, DOB /1986) was in the kitchen cooking and became very irate after making a mess. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that Michael’s mother, [VICTIM #1] (W/F, DOB /1964), was also in the kitchen. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that she heard a “thud” and believed that Michael Hardy had struck his mother.
After gathering this information, I approached the front door of the residence and knocked. Ms. [VICTIM #1] came to the door. I asked Ms. [VICTIM #1] where Michael was, and she pointed to a room adjacent to the front door. I asked Michael if he would step outside so we could speak. I asked Michael what had happened while he and his mother were in the kitchen. Michael stated that he and his mother were just playing around and that nothing happened. I asked Michael if he had put his hands on Ms. [VICTIM #1], and he stated “no” multiple times. I had another deputy stand by with Michael while I spoke with Ms. [VICTIM #1] inside the residence.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] was standing in the living room while I asked her what had occurred. Ms. [VICTIM #1] appeared visibly upset about the situation. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was in the kitchen when Michael got upset but claimed that nothing happened. When asked if Michael had pushed or hit her, she became defensive and stated that she fell because the tile floor in the kitchen was slick. Ms. [VICTIM #1] also stated that she hit her head on the table when she fell.
I asked Ms. [VICTIM #1] again if Michael had pushed or hit her in any way that caused her to fall. Ms. [VICTIM #1] then admitted that Michael had pushed her, causing her to fall and strike the table. Ms. [VICTIM #1] pleaded that she did not want Michael to be arrested because he had just been released from prison.
After hearing Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s statement, I returned outside to where Michael was standing and informed him that he was being placed under arrest for Battery (Family Violence). I instructed Michael to turn around and place his hands behind his back. I placed Michael in handcuffs, checked them for proper fit, and double locked them. I then escorted Michael to the back seat of my patrol vehicle. Michael was allowed to briefly speak with his mother, Ms. [VICTIM #1], before being transported to the Spalding County Detention Center. I obtained case number and provided it to both Ms. [WITNESS #1] and Ms. [VICTIM #1]. I explained when and where they could obtain copies of the report.
Warrants has been taken out for Michael Hardy on 03/14/2026 for Battery (Family violence) (26-EW-002224). An additional charge has been added and a warrent has been taken for (Cruelty to 65 or older) (26-EW-002225)
