On 01/16/2026 at approximately 2330 hours, I, Officer Hardeman, was conducting a traffic stop at the intersection of Wright Street and North 16th Street. During the stop, I was approached by Michael Witcher (DOB [REDACTED BY AGENCY]94). Witcher walked up to the vehicle that had been stopped and positioned himself between Officer Tomlinson and me while we were attempting to speak with the driver.
At the time, Witcher was carrying a half-empty bottle of Jose Cuervo and a Bud Light box containing beer cans. I instructed Witcher to step away from the vehicle; however, he refused to comply. Witcher then raised his hands and assumed a fighting stance toward me, stating, “we can catch the one,” which is a commonly used term indicating an intent to fight. Witcher also stated that he is a kickboxer.
I advised Witcher to stop assuming a fighting stance and to comply with my commands. Witcher continued to refuse. Due to his actions and refusal to comply, Witcher was placed under arrest. He was secured in handcuffs, which were double-locked and checked for proper fit.
Witcher was then transported to the Spalding County Jail and turned over to jail staff without incident. He was issued two citations: one for Disorderly Conduct and one for Public Drunkenness.
