On 05/23/2026 Deputy Clark responded to a domestic at [600 BLOCK] Northside Dr. Apt. # [REDACTED] in non-emergency mode. Upon arrival, Deputy Clark’s body-worn camera was activated.
Deputy Clark spoke with [VICTIM #1] (/1997 B/F) who stated that her boyfriend, by the name of Odestie Smith (/1997 B/M) had choked her due to him seeing something in her phone.
[VICTIM #1] stated when she woke up this morning, she went to the kitchen to clean. [VICTIM #1] stated while she was cleaning, Smith had come into the kitchen upset due to him going through her phone and seeing her texting other people. [VICTIM #1] advised she told Smith that it’s nobody and that he can check the messages himself. [VICTIM #1] stated that when Smith began to yell and scream, she walked into the bathroom to use the toilet, and he followed her.
[VICTIM #1] advised that while she was using the bathroom, Smith was still upset, yelling and screaming. [VICTIM #1] stated when she got up from the toilet, Smith started choking her, pushing her down in the tub. [VICTIM #1] stated when Smith realized he was choking her too hard due to her gasping for air, Smith had let her go, and [VICTIM #1] ran outside to her neighbor’s house to call 911.
Deputy Clark was able to observe the bruises on [VICTIM #1]’s neck, resembling a handprint around her neck. Pictures were taken.
Deputy Clark made contact with Smith, who stated that nothing happened between the two and advised he just got upset because she was texting other men. Smith stated he did not choke her but advised he did block her in the bathroom by putting his hand out to stop her from trying to walk away.
Deputy Clark placed Smith in handcuffs double-locked behind his back checked for proper fitting. Smith was placed in Deputy Clark’s patrol vehicle. The vehicle was checked for contraband; none was found. Smith Was charged with aggravated assault under the family violence act.
While Deputy Clark was speaking with [VICTIM #1], Dispatch advised a confirmation that [VICTIM #1] had a confirmed warrant for failure to appear. [VICTIM #1] was placed in handcuffs double-locked behind her back, checked for proper fitting, and was transported by Sgt. Head.
