On 05/29/2026 at approximately 1851hrs, I PTL P Brown 4152 responded in non-emergency mode to 650 North Expressway (Catarinas Restaurant) which is in the City of Griffin, Spalding County in regard to a Subject Armed with Weapon.

Upon arrival I made contact with Robert Crain who was standing in front of the Catarinas entrance, and he advised me that he had the handgun on his hip.

Crain stated that he was inside the restaurant sitting down across from three male subjects who were sitting adjacent to him, and they had said four curse words. He advised that he didn’t like them cussing in front of his twelve-year-old daughter and decided to confront them at their table. Crain stated that he walked over to the table and began to speak to [WITNESS #1], to which [WITNESS #1] said it was rude to interrupt him. Crain stated that they could handle the situation “outside”. Crain then states that [VICTIM #1], wearing the brown shirt, stands up and attacks him, punching him three times directly in the face. Crain advised that at this point three men were standing near him and he then draws his handgun and held it down by his side never pointing it at anyone.

I made contact with [VICTIM #1] who was wearing a brown shirt, [WITNESS #1], and [WITNESS #1] just outside the front doors to Catarinas.

[VICTIM #1] stated that Crain approached their table with an aggressive demeanor getting well within the personal space of his father [WITNESS #1] and family friend [WITNESS #1]. He advised that Crain rudely interrupted [WITNESS #1] to which [WITNESS #1] made a comment about how Crain interrupted him. To which Crain stated that they could handle the situation “outside”. [VICTIM #1] stated that he instinctively stood up to intervene and protect his father and [WITNESS #1] from Crain who was displaying signs of pre-attack body language. [VICTIM #1] advised that he walked towards Crain reaching his hands out to push Crain away from his father to create distance. [VICTIM #1] states that Crain and him begin to shove each other back and forth. Crain then pulled his handgun out and pointed it at him. [VICTIM #1] advised that he never punched him in the face or hit him at all, only shoved him away from his father.

[WITNESS #1] and [WITNESS #1] shared the same story as [VICTIM #1] stating that no one had hit Crain at all. They stated all three of them stood up once Craine approached them aggressively and told them they could handle it outside. Craine then pulled out the firearm and pointed it at [VICTIM #1] when [VICTIM #1] and Crain were pushing each other back and forth.

I went into Catarinas and observed the security camera footage that was pointed at the seating area where the incident took place.

Crain can be seen standing up and approaching [VICTIM #1]s table with what appeared to be closed fists, stepping within striking distance of [WITNESS #1] and [WITNESS #1]. No audio can be heard but you can see Crain exchanging words with the table he was approaching. [VICTIM #1] can be seen standing up and moving towards Crain and placing his hand on or near Crains chest area pushing him away from the table. At this point you can see Crain using his left elbow to strike [VICTIM #1] on or near the face as [VICTIM #1] continues to push him away from the table. Crain then uses his right hand to grip and unholster a handgun from his right-side hip. Crain then lifts the firearm up pointing it at [VICTIM #1]s head. The gun can be seen inside Crains’ hand raised up in the air with his elbow bent with the muzzle pointed towards [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] then pushes the handgun and Crains hand away from his head to which Crain then lowers the gun to his right-side hip area. The owner then steps between them and they all move outside to meet law enforcement.

At no point in the video did I observe [VICTIM #1] punch Crain in the face three times. Crains body language from the initial start of the video can be described as threatening or provoking. At no point in the video did [VICTIM #1], [WITNESS #1], or [WITNESS #1] possess, brandish, or wield a deadly weapon.

Crain was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault, his firearm was seized and placed into evidence. The handcuffs were placed on his wrist behind the back, checked for fit, and double locked. He was transported to the Spalding County Jail where he was turned over to Jail Staff.

Catarinas store owner sent an Axon Community Request to upload the Security Camera Footage to Axon labeled with the case number. The footage was uploaded onto Axon.

I will be seeking a Warrant for Aggravated Assault for Robert Crain at the earliest time possible.
