At approximately 1919 hours on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Deputy Brown and Corporal Worsham were dispatched to the area of GA Hwy 300 North and Hwy 188 in reference to a welfare check on a female juvenile. While en route, Thomas County Dispatch informed the deputies that the juvenile had been picked up by an individual driving a black pickup truck. The complainant, [WITNESS #1], was reportedly following the vehicle and advised that it had stopped near Stage Road.
Deputy Brown arrived at the scene shortly before Corporal Worsham, at approximately 1933 hours, and made contact with the complainant. [WITNESS #1] stated that he observed the juvenile walking near the highway without a parent, accompanied only by a small dog. He further reported that shortly thereafter, a couple, later identified as [WITNESS #2] and [WITNESS #3], picked up the juvenile. Upon making contact with [WITNESS #2] and [WITNESS #3], Deputy Brown observed the juvenile, who was identified as 4-year-old [JUVENILE #1]. She was wearing dirty clothing and no shoes and stated she was attempting to go to her grandmother’s house. [JUVENILE #1] also mentioned she had not eaten in a while. After that [WITNESS #2] and [WITNESS #3] explained that they had picked up The juvenile to keep her safe from the heavy traffic in the area.
After that Corporal Worsham arrived on scene to assist Deputy Brown in the investigation. Upon observing the juvenile, Worsham advised she was the daughter of Hannah Coleman and [REDACTED]. Worsham then left the scene to search for the parents, who were possibly in the area. Shortly thereafter, [WITNESS #1], the original complainant, located Hannah Coleman at [27200 BLOCK] GA Hwy 300 in a camper. He reported that he was able to find her due to the puppy that had been with the juvenile. [WITNESS #1] also stated that Hannah cursed at him, told him to “screw off,” and expressed that she did not want anything to do with the child.
Deputies then relocated to the area and made contact with Hannah Coleman. Hannah claimed she did not know her daughter was in the area and believed she was with her grandmother, [WITNESS #4]. Hannah also denied statement made by the [JUVENILE #1] in reference to her not having anything to eat. While speaking with Hannah, deputies observed signs that she may have been under the influence of a substance, possibly methamphetamine, due to her association with [REDACTED], who is known to be an avid methamphetamine user.
Shortly after, [WITNESS #4] arrived on scene. [WITNESS #4] stated that her daughter knew she was not in the area because she was in the process of moving to Albany, Georgia, and had informed her of that. [WITNESS #4] further stated that incidents like this have occurred several times before and that Hannah does not care for the child and needs help. This incident was reported to the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and will be turned over to Investigations.
