On November 9, 2025, at approximately 3:03 a.m., I was dispatched to [400 BLOCK] Carter Lane, Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia, in reference to a domestic problem.

Upon my arrival, I observed a juvenile female outside the residence and another juvenile female inside attempting to open a bedroom door. As I approached the residence, I saw a female, later identified as Ms. [VICTIM #1], standing in the hallway. While getting closer, I noticed the bedroom door appeared to be coming off the hinges from the inside.

I asked the juveniles who were inside the room, and they stated that their mother, Ms. [VICTIM #2], and her boyfriend, Mr. Tanickey Harris, were in the bedroom. The juveniles advised that Mr. Harris had a knife in his hand. Observing the door being forced from the inside, I instructed the juveniles to move out of the way for their safety.

I entered the residence and saw that the bedroom door frame was damaged and partially detached. I removed the door completely and observed Ms. [VICTIM #2] standing near the doorway and Mr. Harris positioned behind her. Due to the report of a knife, I unholstered my weapon and held it at a low-ready position, giving verbal commands for both individuals to show their hands.

Once I confirmed neither subject had a weapon in hand, I ordered both to exit the room. As they exited, Sgt. Carpenter placed Mr. Harris in handcuffs without incident. I then separated Ms. [VICTIM #2] and the juveniles for individual interviews.

Ms. [VICTIM #2] stated she was unsure what was happening, explaining that Mr. Harris and her oldest daughter had been “going back and forth.” She said she and Mr. Harris had been drinking and playing a card game when she overheard the argument. She also stated that the broken glass outside the bedroom came from drinking glasses they were using to “take shots.”

While inside the bedroom, I observed blood on the wall and floor. I checked Ms. [VICTIM #2] for injuries but found none. Other officers reported that Mr. Harris had lacerations to his hands, and EMS was notified to evaluate him. When asked about the knife, Ms. [VICTIM #2] stated she did not know where it was located.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she believed Mr. Harris was attempting to control her mother due to her intoxicated condition. She said when she knocked on the bedroom door to check on her mother, Mr. Harris yelled, “Why are you banging on the door?” and claimed he was helping Ms. [VICTIM #2] in the bathroom, though he was not in the bathroom at that time. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she and Mr. Harris began arguing, during which he insulted her, calling her “dumb as fu*k.”

Ms. [VICTIM #1] also stated that Mr. Harris threatened to have his cousins come to the residence to fight them. The juveniles added that their mother stood outside the door to prevent Mr. Harris from leaving the bedroom, at which point he began striking the door, causing visible damage.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] reported that she picked up a bottle in self-defense, after which Mr. Harris accused her of threatening him. She further stated that he threw a glass in their direction, which shattered when Ms. [VICTIM #2] closed the door, nearly hitting them. Ms. [VICTIM #1] and the two juveniles all stated they saw Mr. Harris holding a brown-handled knife. The juveniles later retrieved and presented a small brown knife from their mother’s room, identifying it as the one Mr. Harris had possessed.

Mr. Tanickey Harris stated that he and Ms. [VICTIM #2] were playing cards and drinking when she became intoxicated and fell into the toilet. He said he assisted her out of the bathroom and into bed, at which point Ms. [VICTIM #1] began banging on the door. Mr. Harris claimed he was only trying to help Ms. [VICTIM #2] to bed.

Based on witness statements from Ms. [VICTIM #1] and the two juvenile females, as well as the physical evidence observed on scene, Mr. Tanickey Harris was determined to be the primary aggressor. Mr. Harris was placed under arrest and charged with Cruelty to Children (2nd Degree) x3. He was transported by Unit #1465 to the Toombs County Detention Center for booking. Warrants will be applied for the related charges.
