[NARRATIVE #1 on April 20, 2023]

On Thursday 04/20/2023 at approximately 0115 hours, I was dispatched a call by phone in reference to a domestic disturbance that occurred at [900 BLOCK] Hulana St. The incident was reported to have occurred thirty minutes prior to the time of call.

Dispatch advised me that Catoosa County was out with the caller in their County at [10 BLOCK] Hillsboro Dr, attempting to report the incident. See Catoosa CFS 2023-029120.

I made contact with the caller/victim by phone. She stated that her husband and her were arguing about money. She stated that he “Rough housed” her up by smacking her a few times, choking her out by putting his hands around her throat, grabbing her, and by pushing her in the floor. He told her that he could kill her. She stated that all of this happened in front of their six year old child, the listed juvenile. She stated that he had been drinking and he was going to purchase crack while driving her white Honda Odyssey. She told me to be careful when I go speak with him.

She stated that Deputy Kusma #564 from Catoosa County had taken pictures of her injuries and she was provided with information about services available. I also provided her with her case number.

When the initial call was coming out, myself and Deputy Gilreath were driving to the incident location in anticipation of handling the call in person, as we normally begin driving towards incident locations as soon as we notice the address populate in our computer system. We were both sitting stationary at Mcfarland Ave and Hogan Rd while I was taking the call by phone.

I had just finished taking the caller’s statement and reviewed the photos of her injuries that Deputy Kusma had provided me with when I observed the caller’s White 2000 Honda Odyssey drive past our position, turning left on to Peach St.

I quickly activated my patrol vehicle emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, due to the caller advising he had previously been drinking and I knew the suspect to have committed the listed offenses. The listed vehicle stopped on Peach St and Mcfarland Ave.

I made contact with the suspect, the driver of the vehicle. I immediately noticed a strong smell of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath and person. His eyes were red and glassy. He denied consuming any alcoholic beverages. I also observed he had a small scratch on his right hand. It was fresh and there was no dirt on it.

When questioned about the argument he had with his wife, he denied any such incident occurred. He stated he was going home. I confronted him about the injuries she had sustained and he stated that she falls all the time. He could not tell me when the last time she fell was. I asked if he had dropped his wife off and he shook his head no.

I had Sgt. Agredano come to the scene to evaluate the suspect for DUI. He blew into Sgt. Agredano’s PBT and the results were 0.054. We determined we did not have observe a less safe act in order to sustain a DUI charge.

I then placed the suspect under arrest. I placed the suspect in handcuffs, which were checked for fit and double locked, prior to transport. I then searched the suspect for weapons and contraband.

While searching his right pocket, I heard what sounded like a glass object lightly hitting the pavement on his left side. When I turned to look at what it was, the suspect quickly stepped on something with his left foot. When we made the suspect move his foot, I observed broken glass and what appeared to be a plug, leading me to believe he stepped on a glass smoking device that was a crack pipe. The glass had black residue on it, it was so destroyed that I was unable to collect or document it for any kind of evidence.

No other contraband was found. I searched the backseat for weapons and contraband. None was found. I then placed him in the backseat for transport to the Walker County jail.

Due to the suspect not having anyone able to come collect his vehicle, next list wrecker service Kay’s was called to collect the vehicle.

I then transported the suspect to the A/B Line to be turned over to Deputy Hopkins, who agreed to transport him to the jail. I searched the backseat of my patrol car again for weapons and contraband. None was found.

[NARRATIVE #2 on April 20, 2023]

On April 20th 2023 at approximately 0244 hours, I met Deputy Russ at the A/B Sector Line to pick up a suspect already in his custody, for transport to the Walker County jail.

I placed the suspect in handcuffs, which were checked for fit and double locked, prior to transport. I then searched the suspect for weapons and contraband. None was found. I searched the backseat for weapons and contraband. None was found. I then placed him in the backseat for transport to the Walker County jail.

I then arrived at the jail and turned the suspect over to detention personnel. I checked the backseat of my patrol car for weapons and contraband. None was found.
