On the date of 02/04/2026 at approximately 1541 hours, I, Officer Haley, responded to [200 BLOCK] W Main St APT [REDACTED] in reference to a theft.
Upon arrival, I met with the complainant, [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] is a disabled elderly female in a wheelchair and on oxygen. [VICTIM #1] explained that on 01/30/2026, she went to the bank and withdrew 600 dollars so she could pay her apartment rent for the month. [VICTIM #1] continued, stating that when she returned home that date, her friend, Samantha Berry, as well as a [REDACTED], came to her apartment to visit. [VICTIM #1] stated that Berry asked [VICTIM #1] if she could make change for a 100 dollar bill. [VICTIM #1] told Berry that she could. [VICTIM #1] stated that she then gave Berry two 50 dollar bills, and Berry gave [VICTIM #1] a 100 dollar bill.
[VICTIM #1] described Samantha Berry as a heavyset black female, with shorter hair, and also described the vehicle she is known for driving, which is confirmed by previous contacts Law Enforcement has had with Berry. On Sunday, 02/01/2026, I responded to Cost Kutter Grocery in reference to a trespassing issue on [REDACTED], where I did observe Berry and [REDACTED] together in the same vehicle [VICTIM #1] described, which now corroborates [VICTIM #1]’s statement that Berry and [REDACTED] are usually together.
[VICTIM #1] explained that on this date she went to pay her rent in cash to her landlord. [VICTIM #1] stated that her landlord returned the 100 dollar bill that Berry gave her on 01/30/2026 and stated it was fake. This is when [VICTIM #1] called Law Enforcement.
[VICTIM #1] allowed me to view the 100 dollar bill and it was in fact fictitious, bearing the words “For Motion Picture Purposes,” “Copy,” and “In Prop we Trust.” I then took the 100 dollar bill as evidence and Property Receipt #3250 was completed in reference, and evidence placed in Locker #1. [VICTIM #1] stated she did want to press charges and completed a witness statement, which is attached. Photos of the fictitious 100 dollar bill attached as well.
I attempted to contact Berry and had negative contact.
Warrants for OCGA 16-9-1 Forgery, and OCGA 16-5-102 Exploitation of an elder person were applied for and granted.
This case has been cleared by arrest for administrative purposes.
