On Tuesday 04/14/2026 at 2312 hours I was dispatched to [50 BLOCK] Layton Ln, Lafayette in reference to a domestic disturbance.
I met the victim, [VICTIM #1] at 23617 Hwy 193, Uncle Jed’s. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that the suspect, (Tina Carter) had been drinking and they has gotten into an argument. He stated that Tina picked up a rock and hit him in the back of the head. I checked the back of Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s head and there was a large lump. It was about an inch and a half around and raised about a half inch up.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that Tina was still at the residence and he did not know how the she would react to Law Enforcement. Mr. [VICTIM #1] said he wanted to have EMS check his injury. I called dispatch and asked for EMS to check him. EMS arrived and evaluated Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s injury. EMS said that his blood pressure was very high and he should go to the hospital.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] said he would drive himself to the hospital for treatment. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that he and Tina had been married for about six months, but have been together for about two years. He said nothing like this has ever happened before. Mr. [VICTIM #1] was provided a victim’s right’s sheet with my name and badge number.
I drove to the residence where Tina was located. Myself and Cpl Simpson knocked on the door. Tina came to the door and started speaking with me. I asked if she hit Mr. [VICTIM #1] in the head with a rock. Tina made a spontaneous utterance stating “yes I did”.
Tina was then detained. I asked where the rock was Tina said it was on the table. I asked if we could search the residence for the rock. Tina said yes we could search the residence. The rock was located under the table in the living room. The rock was a purple in color and had a weight of about 3 lbs. The rock was taken and placed into evidence.
Sgt Camp arrived on scene at the residence and stayed with Tina while myself and Cpl Simpson searched for the rock Tina used in the assault. Sgt Camp mirandized Tina during this time. After finding the rock I returned to where Tina was standing with Sgt Camp. Tina stated that “I hit him in the head with the rock, I was trying to kill him and I don’t feel bad about it.” Tina said that the argument was because she did not know Mr. [VICTIM #1] was gay. She said he had a boyfriend and that Mr. [VICTIM #1] had said that she was eating all the food in the residence.
When I hand cuffed Tina the cuffs were checked for fit and double locked. Tina was moved to the back of my patrol vehicle and searched for weapons and contraband with none found. I searched the back of my vehicle for weapons and contraband with none found. Dispatch was notified that I had one in custody.
I provided dispatch my beginning mileage for transport to the jail. I provided my ending mileage at the jail. Tina was turned over to jail staff. The rock was weighed using the patrol room scale.
