On February 15, 2026, at approximately 2031 hours, I was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] W. Main Street, Apartment [REDACTED] (Mountain Shadow Apartments), in reference to a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, I made contact with a female identified as [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that her boyfriend had become physical with her and choked her. She advised that the incident occurred earlier this morning on February 15, 2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m. or 5:00 a.m., possibly later.
I observed visible marks on [VICTIM #1]’s chin and on both sides of her neck. [VICTIM #1] also stated there were marks on her chest caused by her boyfriend. I observed redness and a visible mark on her chest consistent with her statement.
I asked [VICTIM #1] to identify her boyfriend. She stated his name is Yuri Martinez and advised that I had previously conducted a traffic stop involving both of them. I was familiar with the individual she referenced.
I asked [VICTIM #1] to explain what occurred. She stated that Yuri has an issue with vaping THC pens and that she had previously told him to stop. She advised that Yuri attempted to hide a THC pen under the refrigerator, but she found it and confronted him.
She stated that Yuri became irate and began assaulting her. She reported that he threw her to the ground, grabbed her arms, and pinned them behind her back. She further stated that he then grabbed her by the throat and strangled her to the point that she could not breathe.
[VICTIM #1] stated that she attempted to call 911 that night, but Yuri took her phone. She advised that he left the residence with her phone and returned the following day. She stated he gave her phone back and then left on his own to his residence in Chattooga County. Yuri’s address was later identified as [1600 BLOCK] Highway 100, Summerville, GA 30747.
[VICTIM #1] stated she did not contact law enforcement while Yuri was still present because she feared he would become physical with her again.
[VICTIM #1] also advised that this was not the first time Yuri had been physical with her. She showed me several photographs depicting prior injuries. One photograph showed her eye, which she stated became bloodshot after Yuri choked her during a previous incident.
I asked [VICTIM #1] to email the photographs of the injuries and bruising patterns to me as evidence. She agreed and was provided with my work email address. She was also given a Family Crisis Center card. Photographs were taken of the injuries observed.
Yuri Martinez will be charged with Aggravated Assault (Strangulation) under the Family Violence Act and Battery under the Family Violence Act. Both parties resided at [200 BLOCK] W. Main Street Apt [REDACTED].
I returned to service without further incident.
