On February 15, 2026 I was patrolling the area of Hwy 11 near the intersection of Highland Ave. As I approached the intersection I observed a black in color Pickup truck run through the red light crossing over Hwy 11 on to E Highland Ave. As I observed this, the vehicle in front of me was forced to slam on their brakes to prevent a vehicle accident. I initiated my emergency lights and sirens and turned on to E Highland Ave. where I then observed the vehicle turn left on to N Madison Ave. running the stop sign.

As I turned on to N Madison Ave. I advised dispatch I was currently trying to catch up with a speeding vehicle driving recklessly. I observed the vehicle pass two vehicles in a no passing zone causing the vehicles to slightly run off of the roadway. The vehicle then turned right on to E Marable St. running the stop sign and continuing further down the roadway failing to yield to my emergency lights and sirens.

I advised dispatch I was currently pursuing the vehicle. The vehicle then passed another vehicle in a no passing zone and turned left on to Walton Rd. where it traveled a short distance then turned right on to Meadowbrook Dr. and finally coming to a stop at [500 BLOCK] Meadowbrook Dr. The driver, identified as Dalton Brown, exited his vehicle and stood by his driver door. Lt. Edmondson arrived on scene and I exited my vehicle with my firearm drawn ordering Mr. Brown to the ground.

Mr. Brown complied and was placed into handcuffs. A patdown of his person was conducted and he was assisted to his feet. Mr. Brown was then placed in the rear right seat of my patrol vehicle where he was read his Miranda Rights. Mr. Brown agreed to speak with me and I asked him why he did not stop to my emergency lights and sirens. Mr. Brown then advised he was scared and did not know what to do.

Several other units arrived on scene and I then spoke with Mr. Browns father and Lt. Edmondson who was standing in the yard. I was then advised that Walton County Deputies were at his residence earlier this date and provided him with a case card asking to speak with Mr. Brown in reference to a hit and run he was involved in.

Cpl. Scruggs then advised me that he could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Mr. Browns breath and conducted a standardized field sobriety test on Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown was then read implied consent to which he agreed for testing of his blood. Mr. Browns vehicle was then towed by Taylor’s towing where I observed the right passenger side mirror was damaged and scratch marks were observed to the passenger door.

Mr. Brown was then transported to Piedmont Walton for a blood Draw then transported to the Monroe Police Department where he was fingerprinted and processed. During this process Mr. Brown repeatedly apologized for “running from us”. Mr. Brown was then transported to the Walton County Jail where he was turned over to Deputies without incident.

Mr. Brown was charged with reckless driving, DUI-under 21, Failure to yield to emergency vehicles, failure to maintain lane and failure to obey a traffic control device. The blood kit containing Mr. Browns blood samples were placed into evidence to be sent for testing.
