On 01/06/24 I, Officer Arriaza was dispatched to 2045 West Spring Street in reference to two subject eating at the Waffle House and leaving the scene without paying. Dispatched advised they were walking away towards the McDonalds. They also advised their were two more subjects that were stopped from leaving still on location at Waffle House. While on the way to the call Lt. Edmondson arrived on scene and advised he had a visual on the two subject. Following this he call out the subject were running and he was engaged in a foot pursuit.
I activated my emergency blue lights and sirens at this point due to the foot pursuit taking place. As I arrived in the area one subject was tased and apprehended by Officer Couch while the other was seen running towards Applebee’s. During this time I could see Lt. Edmondson running on foot as he stated the last subject was going behind Applebee’s. I got to the back of the Applebee’s and got out of my patrol car when I heard another Officer giving loud verbal commands to stop.
At this point I had a visual on a subject in a white and black hoodie running away from other unit. I then drew my department issued taser and began to give chase to the subject while giving loud verbal commands to stop. As I reached about 10-15 feet from the subject they jumped to the floor with their hands up. The subject was placed in handcuffs behind their back, checked for fit and double locked. This subject was identified as Shanyce Patterson (DOB: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/06) she was escorted to my patrol car then transported back to the scene across the street.
After arriving I met with Lt. Edmondson who handed me a black jacket that Shanyce took off while fleeing from him on foot. Inside of the jacket there was a glass jar in the front left pocket with a green leafy substance that is consistent with marijuana. EMS arrived on scene to check the health and status of both females that fled. They were both cleared by EMS on scene. Shanyce was charged with City Ordinance Disorderly Conduct, City Ordinance Possession of Marijuana, and Cited for OCGA 16-8-14 Theft by Shoplifting. She was then transported to Monroe Police Department to be fingerprinted along with the other female who was identified as Shariyah Richardson (DOB: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/06). I then transported both females to the Walton County Jail.
All evidence was submitted and citation were turned into Monroe Police Department. The two other subjects that were still on location were identified as Leticia Garcia (DOB: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/05) and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [REDACTED] (DOB: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/07). [REDACTED] was listed as a missing person on GCIC and transported by Office Priest (See supplemental).
Garcia was shown to have a active warrant and placed under arrest.
