I, Lieutenant Ben Perdue, responded to the Washington County Regional Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim.
Upon arrival I made contact with [VICTIM #1] who stated he went to visit his girlfriend to return some property when he was ambushed. [VICTIM #1] stated his girlfriend, Kristina King resides at [12600 BLOCK] GA Highway 68 South. [VICTIM #1] stated he was traveling to that address to return some property after King stated she wanted it back.
[VICTIM #1] stated when he arrived, he stopped at the entrance to the driveway, (just by the roadway). [VICTIM #1] said King came out to make contact with him. [VICTIM #1] stated while he was talking to King, he kept noticing what sound like rustling sounds outside of his vehicle. [VICTIM #1] stated he rolled his window down to listen, then rolled it back up and ultimately locked the doors. [VICTIM #1] stated he had a feeling somebody was sneaking up on him. [VICTIM #1] stated after he locked the doors, a light skinned, black male, wearing a mask and holding a handgun with an extended magazine, pulled on his driver’s door handle.
[VICTIM #1] stated he put his vehicle in reverse and began backing up when the subject began shooting at him. [VICTIM #1] stated he believes the subject fired three times as he fled from the area in his vehicle. [VICTIM #1] stated one of the rounds struck him in the cheek. I observed [VICTIM #1] and did indeed see a gunshot wound to his cheek. However [VICTIM #1] was in remarkably good spirits, and the wound did not appear life threatening.
I made contact with the on-call investigator, Sergeant CJ Davis. I asked him to respond to the hospital. Around the same time Deputy Hodges who had overheard the radio traffic traveled down to GA Highway 68 South and located the area of the shooting. Deputy Hodges was aware of a previous shooting in the area and decided to start looking there, ultimately finding the shooting scene at [12600 BLOCK] GA Highway 68 South. Deputy Hodges stated he had found several shell casings and busted automotive glass in the roadway. I informed Deputy Hodges to secure the scene and to await Investigator Davis and myself.
Investigator Davis arrived on scene at the hospital and began gathering information. Shortly thereafter King called 911 and advised that she was on the way to the hospital. Investigator Davis and I made contact with King as she walked into the hospital. King originally gave a statement to Davis. The statement indicating that she was talking to [VICTIM #1] when a masked assailant approached the vehicle and began shooting at [VICTIM #1]. King was unable to give a description and said she did not know who the subject was. King stated [VICTIM #1] had come to her residence to return some Victoria’s Secret clothes that belonged to her.
Investigator Davis and I observed [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle and saw several bullet holes in the vehicle’s rear passenger door, front windshield and rear tailgate and window. There were bullet fragments throughout the vehicle. A fairly intact bullet jacket and lead core were laying in the driver’s seat. Deputy Maclin stood by the vehicle until wrecker could arrive and tow the vehicle to the Washington County Impound lot. The vehicle was ultimately secured in the impound lot until Investigator Davis could go through the vehicle in daylight.
After performing an initial investigated interview on King and [VICTIM #1] and an initial observation of the vehicle. Investigator Davis and I travelled to [12600 BLOCK] GA Highway 68 South to process scene and make contact with anyone at the residence. Upon arrival investigator Davis collected shell casings and logged them into as evidence. Investigator Davis made contact with several people at the residence, one in particular a [WITNESS #1].
[WITNESS #1] was the mother to King. [WITNESS #1] stated King had also been seeing Namaj Williams. [WITNESS #1] stated Williams had been at the house earlier and she believed he may be involved in the incident. [WITNESS #1] was able to convince King to be more truthful to Investigator Davis. King ultimately gave Investigator Davis a more truthful story and indicated Williams was the shooter. King stated after the shooting occurred, she carried Williams back to his home, before calling 911 and driving to the hospital.
Some of the family members were able to make contact with Williams and convince him to come back to the residence in an effort to turn himself. Deputies stood by and a short while later Williams did indeed return to the residence. Upon Williams’ entry into the home deputies immediately arrested Williams for aggravated assault. Williams was not questioned but made several spontaneous utterances. One of which is “he had done nothing wrong” and “he did not know why he was being arrested”.
The ER staff determined the bullet had not entered his skull or busted any bones. The incident has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
