Units were dispatched to a hit and run motor vehicle collision in the area of Bealls parking lot. Upon our arrival, I made contact with one of the drivers as well as a witness. Driver # 2 Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that while she was in a store, a female in a black Kia minivan made contact with the driver side rear of her vehicle. Damage to Vehicle # 2 was functional. Vehicle # 2 was driven away from the scene by Driver # 2. Witness # 1 stated that she watched Vehicle # 1 make contact with Vehicle # 2, and after contact was made, the passenger of Vehicle # 1 [REDACTED] stepped out of Vehicle # 1 to view the potential damage. Witness # 1 Ms. [WITNESS #1] then stated that the passenger then returned to Vehicle # 1 and that Vehicle # 1 drove away shortly after.
I later made contact with Driver # 1 at James E Bacon Elementary. Driver # 1 Ms. Brittany McQueen (Offender/Arrested) stated that after she made contact with the driver side rear of Vehicle # 2, she left the scene of the accident in Vehicle # 1 after patiently waiting for someone to account for Vehicle # 2. Damage to Vehicle # 1 was functional. No injuries were reported. After making contact with Ms. McQueen, I informed her of the evidence that was brought against her.
Act. Cpl. Jackson then showed Ms. McQueen the blue in color paint transfer that was on the driver side of her vehicle. I then ran Ms. McQueen’s information through dispatch. Dispatch then confirmed that Ms. McQueen was wanted out of the city. I then informed Ms. McQueen of her warrant out of the city and asked her to exit the vehicle. Myself and Act. Cpl. Jackson then escorted Ms McQueen to my patrol vehicle where she was not searched incident to arrest due to her being a female. I then placed Ms. McQueen in double locked handcuffs, and placed her into the rear passenger side of my vehicle. I then transported Ms. McQueen to the Wayne County Jail where she and her property was turned over to staff without further incident. I then served the warrant on Ms. McQueen. Two citations were issued to and signed by Ms. McQueen.
