On 11 January 2025 at 0241 hours I responded to [1000 BLOCK] Grantham Road for shots fired. Dispatch notified all Sheriff Office Deputies that the caller, [WITNESS #1], stated that Stephen Dixon had shot her boyfriend [VICTIM #1].

I was first to arrive on scene, the front door was open, [WITNESS #1] was waving me into the home. When I entered the doorway [VICTIM #1] was laying just inside the door, unresponsive, next to the bed. [WITNESS #1] was sitting there with a towel applying pressure on the wound. I checked [VICTIM #1] for a pulse and got a faint pulse, I could hear agonal breathing. I checked [VICTIM #1]’s¿ right lower abdomen for entry and exit wounds and updated dispatch. I had [WITNESS #1] continue applying pressure as I tried to get a response from [VICTIM #1].

When I asked, [WITNESS #1] stated that Steven Dixon had pulled up and shot [VICTIM #1] from outside the residence. She stated that the gun was on the ground outside and that Steven had left after he shot [VICTIM #1]. I asked [WITNESS #1] if [VICTIM #1] and Steven had been fighting over anything. [WITNESS #1] stated that they had argued over Steven trying to get with [WITNESS #1].

SGT Jones and Deputy Kelly arrived on the scene and stayed outside the residence. While scanning the room I noticed an open pocketknife on the floor with meat on the blade. I asked if anyone had been stabbed, [WITNESS #1] stated that her and [VICTIM #1] had made sausage earlier in the night. A first responder arrived and assessed [VICTIM #1]; upon his instruction I began chest compressions on [VICTIM #1]. I continued chest compressions until EMS arrived at which point I let them take over the compressions.

SGT Jones and Deputy Kelly located a 20 Gauge shotgun outside that was propped up against an RV on the property. There was also a cell phone that rang that was located under the steps leading into the home. Once [VICTIM #1] was loaded into the ambulance, we removed [WITNESS #1] from the home and had her sit in the back of Patrol vehicle SV-231. SGT Kenn set up crime scene tape and a crime scene log was started by SGT Jones.

Investigator Crane and Investigator Simmons arrived and took over the scene.
