On July 27, 2025, at approximately 13:48 hrs, Deputy Craig was notified of an individual needing to make an Elder Abuse report anonymously over the phone.
Deputy Craig made contact with the subject over the phone, and before the subject could speak, [WITNESS #1] called 911, stating her neighbor [VICTIM #1] had been held hostage and beaten at [500 BLOCK] Union Way. [WITNESS #1] stated she had [VICTIM #1] at [500 BLOCK] Union Way. Deputy Craig arrived at [500 BLOCK] Union Way and made contact with [WITNESS #1], who stated [VICTIM #1]’s son, Brandon Jarrett, is the one who held her hostage and beat her. [WITNESS #1] stated Brandon arrived at [WITNESS #1]’s house demanding that they let him have [VICTIM #1] and take her back home to [500 BLOCK] Union Way. [WITNESS #1] refused to let him have her and told him she was calling 911. [WITNESS #1] stated she watched Brandon pull into his driveway in a red F-150 and walk into his residence and slam the door behind him. Deputies Findley and Daugherty arrived at [500 BLOCK] Union Way to make contact with Brandon.
Deputy Craig spoke with [VICTIM #1], who stated Brandon came home mad this past Wednesday, 07/23/2025, after he left his girlfriend’s lawyer’s office. [VICTIM #1] stated Brandon began blaming her for his girlfriend going to jail, at which time [VICTIM #1] was sitting on her bed. [VICTIM #1] stated that Brandon then punched her in the face, causing her to fall over to the side in the fetal position. [VICTIM #1] stated she pulled her arms and legs up to her face while Brandon kept punching her. [VICTIM #1] stated that after what she felt had been an hour of him beating her, he stopped and told her she was his hostage now.
[VICTIM #1] stated that Brandon then took her phone and told her she was not getting it back. [VICTIM #1] stated Brandon has kept her hostage since that day, and on this date, she was able to climb out of a back window while Brandon was gone to the store. [VICTIM #1] stated she ran as fast as she could to her neighbor’s house so that they could call 911. Deputy Craig observed bruising on both of [VICTIM #1]’s arms and both sides of her face, and also a black left eye. Deputy Craig asked [VICTIM #1] if she needed EMS, at which time she stated yes. A short time later, EMS arrived and transported [VICTIM #1] to the Hamilton Medical Center.
Deputy Craig went to [500 BLOCK] Union Way to assist Deputies Findley, Daugherty, and Sgt Buchanan in making contact with Brandon. Deputies Findley and Daugherty knocked on Brandon’s door multiple times with no response. Deputies were then made aware by dispatch that Brandon had a handgun and a long rifle inside the residence, but it is unknown if he has them with him. Deputies Findley, Daugherty, Craig, and Sgt Buchanan created a perimeter around the residence and began using the PA system in Sgt Buchanan’s patrol vehicle, instructing Brandon to come outside. A short time had passed with no response from Brandon, and the on-call Detective Cooley was notified about the situation. Detective Cooley arrived on the scene, at which time the incident was turned over to Detective Cooley.
Deputy Craig will be applying for Warrants on Brandon for O.C.G.A. 16-5-24 Aggravated Battery, O.C.G.A. 16-5-102 Elder Abuse, and O.C.G.A. 16-5-41 False Imprisonment. Deputy Craig was granted the Warrants, printed the originals, and submitted them to central control.
This case will remain active; nothing further to report at this time.
