On this date, 03/17/2024, myself and the majority of D-shift responded to the [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in reference to over 30 people fighting. When we all arrived on scene there was a large crowd that started to scatter and people dispersed from the area.
I was assisting officers in front of Taboo Lounge where one fight had occurred. I then overheard Lt. Houck say there was a fight behind the building near Jefferson’s. Most of us relocated to this area and the fight appeared to have ended.
There were several heavily intoxicated men and women who had been fighting. I observed one white female, later identified as [VICTIM #1], who was bleeding from her mouth. She could not tell us who hit her, but appeared that she had been fighting with the black female across the street as the two were yelling fighting words at each other like “let’s go bi*ch.” The black female started to walk away from the area, which was fine with all of us. We were trying to break up as many fights as possible and get people back to their homes safely.
All of a sudden I saw [VICTIM #1] look back across the street and her eyes widened. She started to say something, and I turned around and observed the black female taking off her jacket and possibly some jewelry from her hands. She was cursing at [VICTIM #1] and I believed she was coming back to fight.
My belief was correct. I was standing directly in front of the group of people when the female sprinted straight towards my direction. I did not think she had any intention of attacking me, but she was definitely going to attack [VICTIM #1] or the people behind me. As she was running she was screaming how she was going to hurt [VICTIM #1].
Once the female was close enough, I performed a double leg takedown and took her down to the sidewalk on King St. The female received minor injuries during this takedown. I received minor injuries to my right knee and was bleeding from an open scrape.
I had control of her body and stood her up and placed her in handcuffs. The female immediately said “I wasn’t trying to fight you, I was trying to fight the other girl.” She started screaming obscenities and yelling loudly to the point I could not talk over her.
When she spoke to me, I could smell the strong and distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. This individual appeared highly intoxicated.
Sgt. Parker was already on scene and was beside me when this incident took place. We walked the female to my patrol car where she was informed why she was being arrested and searched incident to arrest. Due to her belligerent behavior, she was not secured with a seat belt. She also would not advise if she was a U.S. citizen.
She identified herself as Danielle Wyche Miranda.
Other officers on scene spoke with [VICTIM #1] and asked if she wished to press charges against Danielle. She advised she did not and said she wanted to fight her more.
I transported Danielle to the WCSO and placed her in the care of the booking staff. Once we were at the jail, I observed a small cut on her lip and blood on her shirt. This appeared to be from the earlier fight that took place.
I secured my duty weapon at the jail and searched my back seat prior to and after transport.
I charged Danielle on warrantless arrest #68557 for the following charges:
16-11-39 Disorderly Conduct
16-11-41 Public Drunkenness
[End of Narrative]
