On November 08, 2025 at 0250 hours, Deputies Broling and Kadinger were dispatched to [400 BLOCK] Quillian Rd. in reference to a domestic in progress in which one subject allegedly pulled and knife and a gun on another subject. Sergeant Brunson was close to the location and responded.
Sergeant Brunson arrived on scene at [400 BLOCK] Quillian Rd. to find the caller [VICTIM #1] on the carport of the residence. [WITNESS #1] and Giovanni Santamaria came outside on the carport after Sergeant Brunson arrived. [VICTIM #1] was irate stating that Giovanni had pulled a knife and a gun on him.
[VICTIM #1] stated that the incident started when Giovanni arrived home drunk and playing loud music on his phone. [VICTIM #1] stated he woke [WITNESS #1] (father) up and then they went to confront Giovanni. [VICTIM #1] punched Giovanni in the face and Giovanni pulled a knife and then a gun on him. [VICTIM #1] stated multiple times that this has been building up for ten years.
Deputy Broling arrived and Sergeant Brunson had [VICTIM #1] stand with Deputy Broling while Sergeant Brunson spoke with Giovanni. Giovanni made statements about [VICTIM #1] punching him. Giovanni would not give a clear answer about having the knife or the gun, but stated he owns a handgun and would not pull it on his brother. Giovanni also stated he has no ammo for the gun.
Deputy Kadinger arrived and spoke with [WITNESS #2](sister) while Sergeant Brunson spoke with [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated Giovanni did have the knife and gun. [WITNESS #1] had got between his sons when Giovanni had the knife. [WITNESS #1] stated Giovanni only held the gun down beside his leg.
Deputy Kadinger advised [WITNESS #2] stated after [VICTIM #1] punched Giovanni, Giovanni went to kitchen and got a knife and went after [VICTIM #1] to stab him. [WITNESS #1] got between them keeping Giovanni from getting to [VICTIM #1].
Sergeant Brunson took Giovanni into custody, handcuffed him behind his back, checked the cuffs for fit and double locked them. Sergeant Brunson transported Giovanni to the Whitfield County Jail. In the Sally Port Sergeant Brunson was using his body worn camera to document what looked to be an injury on Giovanni from being struck. Giovanni stated the area around his eye was normal and always there and that he was hit in the cheek. Sergeant Brunson did not observe and injury to Giovanni in the area he indicated being hit. Due to [VICTIM #1] statements about having the knife and gun pulled on him, [WITNESS #1] statements that Giovanni did have the weapons, and [WITNESS #2] statement that Giovanni went after [VICTIM #1] to stab him, Sergeant Brunson charged Giovanni on Warrantless Arrest #70940 with Aggravated Assault Family violence.
[WITNESS #1] lives in New York and was here visiting. All other parties involved live at the residence of [400 BLOCK] Quillian Rd.
