On Monday January 26, 2026 at approximately 1701 hours Deputy Cole and Deputy Spivey were dispatched to the Pilot travel center located at 142 Carbondale Rd in reference to a disturbance in progress. As deputies were en route, dispatch advised them that it would be an older white male, wearing a blue pullover causing the disturbance with other customers, and that he stated to customers that he was on drugs.

Deputy Cole, Deputy Spivey, and Lieutenant Rann went on scene at 1707 hours and made contact with a male at the front door identified as Jonathan Widener. Deputies began speaking with Widener who stated that he could not recall an altercation occurring but that he had been speaking with other customers. Widener was asked about the claim that was made in regards to the use of drugs and he stated that he did take half of a 500mg THC gummy.

Deputies observed being observed him acting in an altered state by waving his hands around, cursing, and presenting the middle finger while talking. Widener was asked if he would consent to a search of his person and he stated he would. Deputies then read Widener his Miranda Rights and then asked Widener if he would consent to a search of his vehicle and he stated that he would. Deputy Spivey and Lieutenant Rann searched the Honda truck and located the gummies.

Deputy Cole and Sergeant Brunson began speaking with the Manager, [WITNESS #1] who stated the following, she is who called 911 due to the disturbance caused by Widener. Widener was being loud and causing altercations with the customers by approaching them and standing in the store with his middle finger up towards the customers. One customer stated to [WITNESS #1] if nothing was done he was going to fight him. [WITNESS #1] also stated that Widener also physically touched the employee at the register.

Deputy Cole and Sergeant Brunson began to speak with the employee at the register, [WITNESS #2], who stated that Widener came into the store and stated that he was “high and going to hang out for a little while”. [WITNESS #2] also stated that Widener placed his hand on her lower back stating that he “loved her” after asking where the drink machine was. [WITNESS #2] also stated that Widener was being loud and creating issues with the customers and even shouting to one customer that he saw them in a recent movie.

Deputy Cole advised Widener that he was being placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and placed Widener in handcuffs, Double locked, and checked for fit.

Widener was placed in the back of the patrol vehicle and was transported to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to booking staff without further incident.

Jonathan Widener was charged with O.C.G.A. 16-11-39 Disorderly Conduct on Citation Number 01810.
