[NARRATIVE #1 on October 24, 2025]
On October 24, 2025, at approximately 6:34 p.m., Deputy E. Garcia of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, in the performance of his patrol duties, responded to the residence of [3000 BLOCK] S Riverbend Rd to meet with the reporting party, [VICTIM #1], for a call of service regarding an assault incident.
Prior to arriving at the designated address, Whitfield 911 Communications acknowledged that the described alleged offender, later identified as Marisa Jeorgina Layman, broke [VICTIM #1]’s back car window. Whitfield 911 Communication Center also acknowledged that Marisa broke into [VICTIM #1]’s residence and assaulted him. Whitfield 911 Communication Center also acknowledged that Marisa swung at [VICTIM #1] and because of that, [VICTIM #1] was bleeding. Whitfield 911 Center also acknowledged that Marisa left the scene, but it was unknown in what vehicle she left.
Upon arrival, Deputy E. Garcia spoke with [VICTIM #1], who stated that at approximately 6:31 p.m., Marisa punched him in the face. [VICTIM #1] stated that he and Marisa had been dating but broke up a week or two ago. [VICTIM #1] stated that he believed Marisa wanted to get back with him. [VICTIM #1] stated that Marisa texted him to meet today, and he replied that he might go see her. [VICTIM #1] stated that his niece, later identified as [WITNESS #1], brought her children to visit, later identified as Juvenile 1 and Juvenile 2.
[VICTIM #1] stated that they were in the house when suddenly Marisa entered the house without invitation or permission. [VICTIM #1] stated that Marisa began yelling and cursing in front of the juveniles. [VICTIM #1] stated that he asked Marisa to leave his property. [VICTIM #1] stated that Marisa then punched him in the face twice. [VICTIM #1] stated that Marisa then went outside while continuing to yell, but suddenly grabbed a stick and threw it at [VICTIM #1]’s car window, destroying the rear window. [VICTIM #1] stated that repairing his car would cost $1,000.
Deputy E. Garcia then spoke with [WITNESS #1], who agreed and confirmed [VICTIM #1]’s account. Deputy E. Garcia asked [WITNESS #1] if he could speak with her children, and she agreed.
Deputy E. Garcia spoke with Juvenile 1, who stated that a woman had broken into [VICTIM #1]’s house. Juvenile 1 stated that the woman slapped [VICTIM #1]. Juvenile 1 stated that she and Juvenile 2 were scared while [WITNESS #1] tried to take them away. Juvenile 2 stated that he was still shaking.
Deputy E. Garcia searched Marisa’s name in the Records Management System (RMS). RMS returned with a license associated with the name. [VICTIM #1] stated that Marisa’s address matched the one in RMS. Deputy E. Garcia then ran the license associated with RMS in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). NCIC returned with an address and a photo. Deputy E. Garcia then showed the picture to [VICTIM #1] in order to identify Marisa. [VICTIM #1] stated that the person shown by Deputy E. Garcia was the same Marisa he knew.
Deputy E. Garcia then drove to the address associated with Marisa, [4200 BLOCK] Prospect Rd NE, in order to obtain Marisa’s version of what had happened. Deputy E. Garcia was unable to speak with Marisa because no one was at the residence.
Deputy E. Garcia observed that [VICTIM #1] was wiping blood from his left nostril with a napkin. Deputy E. Garcia also observed that his left cheek was swollen and had a small wound. Deputy E. Garcia observed several napkins with blood on the floor. Deputy E. Garcia will upload the photos taken as evidence to the website evidence.com.
In conclusion of the investigated incident, Deputy E. Garcia reasonably believed the state’s violations of battery, criminal trespass, criminal damage to property in the 2nd degree, disorderly conduct, cruelty to children in the 2nd and 3rd degrees, and burglary (breaking and entering) had been committed by Marisa Jeorgina Layman.
Marisa is being charged with one count of O.C.G.A. 16-5-23.1 Battery, one count of O.C.G.A. 16-7-21 Criminal Trespass, one count of O.C.G.A. 16-7-23 Criminal Damage to Property in the 2nd Degree, one count of O.C.G.A. 16-11-39 Disorderly Conduct, two counts of O.C.G.A. 16-5-70 Cruelty to Children in the 2nd Degree, two counts of O.C.G.A. 16-5-70 Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree, and one count of O.C.G.A. 16-7-1 Burglary.
Deputy E. Garcia will apply for a warrant for the arrest of Marisa Jeorgina Layman.

[NARRATIVE #2 on October 25, 2025]
On October 25, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., Deputy E. Garcia of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office spoke with on-call Judge Martin via phone in reference to a warrant application, case number 2025-05911. Warrant number W25-1762 was approved by the on-call judge.
At approximately 7:38 p.m., Deputy E. Garcia, Deputy L. Broling, and Deputy W. Beach of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, in the performance of their patrol duties, responded to the residence located at [4200 BLOCK] Prospect Rd NE for a call for service regarding the serving of a warrant. In this event, Deputy E. Garcia performed the responsibilities of the primary investigating official, while Deputies L. Broling and W. Beach acted as secondary officials providing any required assistance.
Upon arrival, Deputy E. Garcia knocked on the door of the residence of Marisa Jeorgina Layman and she answered. Deputy E. Garcia asked Marisa if she had her driver’s license when she opened the front door. Marisa was taken into custody, handcuffed, checked for proper fit, and double-locked.
Deputy E. Garcia then read Marisa her Miranda rights. Marisa stated that she did not wish to answer any questions or make any statements. Marisa was then transported to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. Marisa was left in the detention’s custody with no other action from the agency.
