On March 16, 2026, at approximately 0701 hours, Deputy Bandy was informed by Sgt. Southern a black Chevrolet pick-up truck had hit the flock cameras going southbound at mile marker 341. Sgt. Southern advised Deputy Bandy that the tag was reported stolen and was coming back to a different vehicle.

Deputy Bandy then got on the on-ramp at mile marker 333 and began looking for the vehicle. Deputy Bandy ran the tag in NCIC (New York tag number [REDACTED]) and observed that it was entered as stolen by the Niagara Falls Police Department. Deputy Bandy observed the vehicle, the stolen tags belonged to, was a black 2016 Jeep with vehicle identification number [REDACTED]. Deputy Bandy then observed the truck, a gray Chevrolet Silverado with vehicle identification number [REDACTED] and displaying the stolen license plate from New York, pass by his location at mile marker 333.

Deputy Bandy pulled out, got behind the truck, and had dispatch run the tag information; they advised it was reported stolen. Deputy Bandy then began following the truck, waiting for Deputy Bethune, who was nearby, to assist due to the tag being stolen. Deputy Bandy then observed the truck driver repeatedly switching lanes. Deputy Bandy then observed the truck begin to pull over on the right-hand shoulder without Deputy Bandy activating any of his emergency equipment in the area of mile marker 332.

Deputy Bandy then activated his blue lights on his marked patrol vehicle to conduct a traffic stop. Deputy Bandy then observed the driver, later identified as Rashod Dolson, place his left arm out the window. Due to the tag being reported stolen, Rashod’s odd driving behavior before the stop, and Deputy Bandy’s safety concerns, Deputy Bandy unholstered his department-issued firearm but did not point it at Rashod.

Deputy Bandy gave Rashod a command to put both hands outside the vehicle’s window, and he complied, then immediately put his arms back inside the vehicle. Once Deputy Bethune arrived, Deputy Bandy partially holstered his firearm, leaving the retention undone. As Deputy Bandy and Deputy Bethune approached the truck bed area of the vehicle, Rashod began fleeing in the vehicle.

Deputy Bandy and Deputy Bethune then pursued the vehicle, which was reaching speeds of approximately 100 miles per hour or more in a posted 70 miles per hour zone, continuing southbound on I-75. Deputy Bandy and Deputy Bethune caught up to the vehicle, which was swerving between lanes. Deputy Bandy observed the vehicle was in the middle travel lane approaching exit 328 exit. Deputy Bandy observed the vehicle go from the middle lane, recklessly swerve over, and exit the 328.

The vehicle then turned right onto S. Dug Gap Road, where it continued to fail to maintain its travel lane and illegally pass vehicles on double yellow lines and in the central turning lane. The vehicle was continuing to travel at approximately 100 miles per hour. The vehicle then turned into the Engineer Floors parking lot located at 3829 S. Dug Gap Road and was driving recklessly through the parking lot at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle exited the parking lot and headed back northbound on S. Dug Gap Road. The vehicle was continuing to drive recklessly at one point, leaving the roadway to avoid a head-on collision, then going through the grass due to losing control, before regaining control and continuing northbound on S. Dug Gap Road.

Deputy Bandy then observed the vehicle blow through the red light located at Connector 3 and N. Dug Gap Road. Deputy Bandy observed the vehicle continuing to drive at high speed and weaving in and out of traffic. The vehicle continued down Connector 3 at a speed of approximately 110 miles per hour and blew through the red light at S. Dixie Hwy. The vehicle continued driving at approximately 115 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour zone.

The vehicle then blew through the red light at the South Bypass and Abutment Road. The vehicle continued to drive recklessly, reaching approximately 120 miles per hour as it approached IVC Drive. As the vehicle was passing IVC Drive, Deputy Bandy observed the driver, Rashod, reach out the driver’s side window and throw a small black piece of plastic with his left hand, which appeared to have something inside it, over the top hood of the vehicle into the grass on the right shoulder.

The vehicle continued to drive recklessly, and while in the area of Wagner, the driver went onto the grass median to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then approached the intersection of Airport Road at a high rate of speed, blowing through the red light and nearly colliding with another vehicle. The vehicle then approached Old Grade Road, made a last-second turn, and, as a result, Deputy Bethune took primary in the pursuit, and Deputy Sharpe took secondary.

The vehicle continued to travel at a high rate of speed, driving recklessly and passing cars in no passing zones. The vehicle then blew through the stop sign located at Old Grade Road and Tibbs Bridge Road and began traveling eastbound towards Murray County.

The vehicle continued to drive recklessly at speeds of approximately 90 miles per hour and passed cars in a no-passing zone. The vehicle then entered Murray County while continuing to drive recklessly. The vehicle then made a right-hand turn onto Robinson Road. The vehicle then turned left onto New Hope Road. The vehicle then turned left onto Brown Bridge Road and continued at high speed.

The vehicle approached the stop sign at Brown Bridge Road and Highway 225 when the driver lost control, went into the grass, and continued to drive, striking a utility pole. The driver, Rashod, continued to try to drive before fleeing out of the vehicle, initiating a foot pursuit. When Rashod fled from the vehicle, the vehicle continued to roll into a basketball goal.

Due to Rashod actively fleeing law enforcement on foot, Deputy Bandy attempted to stop Rashod via his department-issued Taser 10 serial number T19F65523, firing multiple cartridges at preferred target zones as he was trained. The taser appeared not to make contact and was not effective. Deputy Bandy fired a total of 6 cartridges from his taser. The foot pursuit continued with Rashod running through a pond. Rashod was then taken into custody by Murray County Deputies when exiting the pond.

Upon running the truck’s VIN, dispatch advised that the truck was registered to Rashod and was supposed to have a different tag. A search of the vehicle revealed a ballistic vest inside. Murray County K-9 Deputy Burchfield ran his K-9 around the vehicle and advised that the dog showed a positive alert for the odor of narcotics.

Deputy Bandy read Rashod his Miranda Warning, and he advised that he did not understand his rights. Georgia State Patrol Trooper Edwards responded to the scene and worked the traffic collision. The crash report number is C001056540. The Niagara Police Department confirmed the stolen tag, and the tags were taken off the vehicle and will be placed into evidence. Doug Yates Towing responded to the scene to retrieve the vehicle.

Deputy McKenzie checked the area where the plastic bag was located and could not locate it. Deputy Bandy then began transporting Rashod to the Whitfield County Jail. While en route to the jail, Rashod began complaining of hernia pain, and Deputy Bandy pulled over on N. Thornton at North Bypass. Deputy Bandy then transported Rashod to Hamilton Medical Center, where he was cleared by medical staff and then transported to the Whitfield County Jail and turned over to Booking Staff.
