On 5/27/26 at approximately 1419 hours, Deputy Crane and Deputy Townsend were dispatched to a call in reference to a domestic in progress.
At approximately 1426 Deputy Crane and Deputy Townsend arrived at the residence where they met with [VICTIM #1] and Ruth Maples in the front yard. Sergeant Buchanan and Deputy Chastain arrived shortly after to assist. Deputy Crane approached Mr. [VICTIM #1] and noticed a scratch on his face. When Mr. [VICTIM #1] was questioned by Deputy Crane about the scratch Mr. [VICTIM #1] initially said it was caused by something other than the incident that occurred. Mr. [VICTIM #1] informed Deputy Crane that all he wanted was to get his ex-girlfriend Ms. Maples the help that she needed.
Deputy Crane then spoke with Ms. Maples who was very irate and was observed to be bleeding from her finger. Ms. Maples informed the deputies on scene that she had broken several items in the yard in anger and cut her finger open on a small statue that she broke. She made several statements that she was mad at Mr. [VICTIM #1] due to the fact that he would not give her a ride somewhere. While Deputy Crane was questioning Ms. Maples about the incident she would focus back on Mr. [VICTIM #1] who was in the front yard and start making threats towards him such as “I will bust your f*cking teeth in”.
She also told Deputy Crane that she had a .22 Ruger firearm and that she would shoot Mr. [VICTIM #1] as well given the chance. Ms. Maples made several remarks to the deputies on scene that she would give them a reason to take her to jail such as busting out all of the windows at the residence. Ms. Maples informed the deputies on scene that Mr. [VICTIM #1] grabbed her by the arm and slung her out of the house which caused the bruising on her right arm.
At this time, due to the provoking nature and abusive words Ms. Maples made towards Mr. [VICTIM #1], Deputy Crane placed Ms. Maples under arrest for the charges of O.C.G.A. 16-11-39 Disorderly Conduct and O.C.G.A. 16-5-23 Simple Battery. Deputy Crane spoke to Mr. [VICTIM #1] about the scratch on his face again and he stated that Ms. Maples pushed a water bottle into his face which caused his glasses to cut his cheek.
Ms. Maples was transported to the Whitfield County Detention Center and turned over to the booking staff with no further incident. The picture of the scratch on Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s face will be uploaded to evidence.com.
Deputy Crane read Ms. Maples her affidavit under warrant W26-882 once she was placed in the booking padded cell. While reading the warrant to Ms. Maples, she did admit to saying “I will bust his f*cking teeth out” and “I have a .22 Ruger and I will shoot his a*s”. Ms. Maples also admitted to scratching Mr. [VICTIM #1]s face. Deputy Crane took pictures of Ms. Maples arm while in the booking padded cell, these pictures will be uploaded to evidence.com.
