On September 20, 2025 at approximately 0235 hours Deputy McKenzie and Deputy Dominic were dispatched to [200 BLOCK] N Hill View Dr in reference to a domestic dispute in progress. While en route, dispatch advised the caller “[VICTIM #1]” stated she was assaulted with a gun by her husband “William Kelley” whom she had recently served with divorce papers. Upon arrival, Deputy McKenzie discovered the following.

Mr. Kelley had fled the scene in a white Jeep. Deputy McKenzie observed Ms. [VICTIM #1] lying on the living room floor with her face covered in blood. Her lips were swollen, she had a knot on her forehead, and a scratch on her throat. She was extremely hysterical and requested to be seen by EMS personnel. She was transported to Hamilton Medical Center, where Deputy McKenzie later gathered a statement from her.

While on scene, Deputy McKenzie spoke with Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s children. Juvenile 1 stated on this date that he was sleeping in his mother’s bedroom with her. He woke up because his mother was screaming. He observed his father, Mr. Kelley, on top of her. Juvenile 1 kicked Mr. Kelley to make him get off of her. Mr. and Ms. [VICTIM #1] fell onto the bedroom floor, and Juvenile 1 got up and turned the bedroom light on. Mr. Kelley then left the residence.

Juvenile 2 stated on this date she was sleeping and heard her mother screaming at the top of the basement stairs. She got up, and Ms. [VICTIM #1] told her to take her brothers into the back bedroom. Juvenile 2 and her brothers went into the back bedroom until the authorities arrived.

Juvenile 3 stated on this date that he was sleeping and heard his mother screaming. He got up and went into the back bedroom with Juvenile 1 and 2.

Deputy McKenzie observed a large amount of blood on Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s bed near her pillow. There was also a large amount of blood on the floor next to the bed. Small drops of blood were located all throughout the residence.

The Juvenile’s grandmother, “[REDACTED]” took the juvenile 1, 2, and 3 to her residence upon Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s request.

Deputy McKenzie spoke with Ms. [VICTIM #1] in the emergency room at Hamilton Medical Center. She was still unsettled from the incident while giving her statement. She stated that on this date, Mr. Kelley entered her residence while she was sleeping and struck her face multiple times. He placed a handgun in her mouth, and she frantically began pushing him to get him off of her. He began shoving the handgun harder into her throat. She continued pushing him and screamed her son’s name, “Juvenile 1”. She and Mr. Kelley fell onto the bedroom floor. Juvenile 1 got off the bed and turned the bedroom light on. Mr. Kelley then fled the residence. She then called the authorities.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she filed for a divorce and had an ex parte order served to Mr. Kelley. He left the date he was served with the court order, and she did not see him again until this incident. She was worried he would return and changed all the locks on the external door of the residence. She believes she left the door inside the garage unlocked on this date.

Deputy McKenzie asked about her injuries. She stated her whole face was sore, and she had a laceration on the inside of her mouth. Deputy McKenzie observed the laceration. It was approximately an inch in diameter and located on the back of her throat. Ms. [VICTIM #1] was provided with the report number of the incident.

Deputy McKenzie was informed by dispatch that Mr. Kelley wished to speak via phone call. Deputy McKenzie spoke with him on the phone and requested him to meet at the Whitfield County Detention Center. At approximately 0540 hours on this date, Deputy McKenzie interviewed him at the Detention Center.

Deputy McKenzie read him his Miranda rights, which he stated he understood. He stated that on this date, he went to [200 BLOCK] N Hillview Dr to speak to Ms. [VICTIM #1]. The front door was unlocked, and he entered the residence. He walked to Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s bedroom. She and Juvenile 1 were sleeping in her bed, and he sat on the side of her bed with a flashlight pointed at her. She raised her head when she saw the light and struck it, busting her nose. He then covered her mouth with his hands to keep Juvenile 1 from waking up. He told her he just wanted to talk to her. He then began holding her legs. After struggling to hold Ms. [VICTIM #1] down, He left the scene and went back to his father’s residence. Deputy McKenzie asked Mr. Kelley if he struck Ms. [VICTIM #1]. He stated he never struck her and only held her arms and legs.

Deputy McKenzie placed Mr. Kelley into custody under warrantless arrest number 70860 for OCGA 16-5-21 aggravated assault, OCGA 16-7-1|A burglary 1st, no forced entry, dwelling, and OCGA 16-5-70(D)(1) cruelty to child, allow to witness fel/bat/fv, 3rd.
