[NARRATIVE #1 on June 13, 2024]

On 06/13/2024 at approximately 1403 hours, I was dispatched to the area of Lawrence Road and Bostic Circle in reference to two males bleeding.

Upon arrival at the Men’s State Prison, I observed two white males walking up the pathway towards Bostic Road. Once I got closer, I could see blood heavily coming from the front of Fred Burns’s left thigh stating he had fallen on a small pipe trying to walk in the kudzu toward the creek. Burns stated Lonnie Ingram came to help take the pipe out when he went to rest on Ingram, Burns stated Ingram fell to the ground, and razor wire cut the left index finger causing a large laceration. Burns stated it was an accident.

I spoke with Lonnie Ingram who stated while walking to the creek Burns stepped on some razor wire causing the wire to penetrate his left thigh and causing it to bleed heavily. Ingram stated when he went to pull the wire out of Burns, Burns braced on him causing Ingram to fall into the razor wire which caused the wire to lacerate his left index finger causing it to also bleed heavily. Due to the severity of the laceration to Ingram’s index finger, he was taken to Baldwin Navicent Atrium to be treated for his wounds.

While at the hospital I was advised the incident was actually a stabbing. I spoke with Ingram who stated the incident was an accident and he was not stabbed, and he did not stab Burns.

I was contacted by Probation Officer Zachary Grogon who stated he had two witnesses [WITNESS #1], and [WITNESS #2]. [WITNESS #1] stated while behind Burns and Ingram, he heard Ingram, “state what did you say boy”. [WITNESS #1] stated when he looked up, he saw both Ingram and Burns in a hugging position and watched both men fall to the ground. [WITNESS #1] stated Burns stood up and could see blood heavily coming from Burns’s left leg. [WITNESS #1] stated he then saw heavy bleeding coming from Ingram’s left hand. [WITNESS #1] stated due to him being afraid of going back to prison he went to get security.

[WITNESS #2] stated after he saw Lonnie hug Burns, they fell into the kudzu and when they stood up both men were bleeding heavily. [WITNESS #2] stated he then called 911 due to how bad both men were bleeding. [WITNESS #2] stated he did not see anyone get stabbed but believed both men had knives.

Both parties were taken for medical treatment.

[NARRATIVE #2 on June 13, 2024]

On 06/13/2024 at approximately 1825 hours, I made contact with the DCS Officer [REDACTED] at Bostick Nursing Center, 1700 Bostick Circle, in reference to case number 202400031387.

Officer [REDACTED] stated he spoke with Jason Burnes who advised he had fell onto a small metal rod, Officer [REDACTED] stated he spoke to a witness, [WITNESS #1], whom stated Burnes and another male subject, Lonnie Ingram, was in an altercation and they had stabbed each other. Officer [REDACTED] stated [WITNESS #1] knew where the location of the two knives were located at the scene and agreed to show us where they are.

Once we arrived at the location, [WITNESS #1] advised of the blood spots leading out from the building were from Jason and that the incident occurred under a metal awning found behind the building. [WITNESS #1] advised of a large knife inside of a barrel and the little knife was near a branch where Ingram fell at. We were able to locate both knives at the locations [WITNESS #1] had advised us, and [WITNESS #1] agreed to talk about the incident.

[WITNESS #1] stated while he was waiting for the food to be done, Burnes and Ingram had got into a verbal altercation over Ingram calling Burnes an unknown name. [WITNESS #1] stated he watched as Ingram and Burnes get close to each other, and stated Ingram grabbed a small knife that was on the table and stabbed Burnes in his left leg. [WITNESS #1] stated Burnes climbed on top of the table and grabbed a bigger knife that was located in the ceiling of the metal awning. [WITNESS #1] stated Burnes attempted to swing the knife at Ingram’s neck causing Ingram to stumble backwards, [WITNESS #1] advised Burnes pushed Ingram down to the ground.

[WITNESS #1] stated Jason stood over Ingram with the knife in his hand and attempted to stab Ingram, [WITNESS #1] advised Ingram was able to get his left hand up and was cut on his ring finger. [WITNESS #1] stated he attempted to get Burnes off of Ingram and advised Burnes attempted to walk away. [WITNESS #1] stated Burnes fell to the ground due to losing blood from his leg wound and stabbed the large knife into a barrel. [WITNESS #1] stated he had a friend call 9-1-1 while he waited with Burnes to be checked out.

[WITNESS #1]’s witness statement was recorded on body camera, and a pair of glasses and the knives were taken and placed into Evidence Locker #2. Pictures of the knives, Burnes and Ingram’s injuries, and the blood spots were taken and added to the call.
