On 10/30/2022 at approximately 0029 hours, I responded to [100 BLOCK] Leroy Oliver Drive in reference to a male shot at the location.
Upon arrival, I observed [VICTIM #1] laying face down in the front yard suffering from three gunshot wounds to the right leg. [VICTIM #1] was yelling and unable to answer questions. EMS arrived on scene shortly after my arrival and transported him to the hospital. Additional deputies arrived on scene and assisted me with taking witness statements and collecting evidence.
[WITNESS #1], the mother of [VICTIM #1]’s baby’s mother, stated [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED] were inside of the residence when they became involved in a heated verbal argument. [WITNESS #1] stated [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED] left the residence and began physically fighting in the front yard. [WITNESS #1] stated that is when Nickolas Dennis, [REDACTED]’s brother, stepped between the two, produced a handgun and fired multiple times at [VICTIM #1]. [REDACTED] and Nickolas then fled the scene in a white Lincoln or Cadillac car.
[WITNESS #2], [VICTIM #1]’s baby’s mother, stated she was inside and observed the verbal altercation between [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED] but did not follow them outside. [WITNESS #2] stated she heard approximately 8 shots coming from the yard.
[WITNESS #3], [REDACTED]’s girlfriend, gave the same version of events as [WITNESS #1] and confirmed that Nickolas was the one who shot [VICTIM #1].
Deputies located eight (8) .40 caliber shell casings in the front yard. Photographs were taken and they were collected as evidence.
We checked the areas of Irby Street and Youngblood Circle, where [REDACTED] and Nickolas had listed addresses, but had no contact.
I will be securing a warrant for the arrest of Nickolas Dennis for the offense of aggravated assault.
