On July 31, 2021 at approximately 1510 hours I was in the parking lot of Pat’s BP in Statham (1937 Atlanta Highway SE) talking to Statham Police Officer Russo when I observed a silver Ford Focus pull into the parking lot. I recognized the driver as Tiffany Worley and the front seat passenger as Christopher Cannon. I knew Christopher had warrants so I told Officer Russo they were pulling into the parking lot.
They parked and we walked over to the vehicle. As we approached the vehicle, Officer Russo ordered Christopher to step out. Christopher began to do so and then I observed him put his right hand into his pocket. He pulled something out and threw it into the passenger seat. I could see it was a plastic bag containing a clear, crystal substance I suspected was methamphetamine. Officer Russo began handcuffing him and ordered everyone else out of the vehicle since there was a bag of suspected methamphetamine lying in the open.
At this time, I walked around the rear of the car to the driver’s side. When I got around the car, I observed Tiffany leaning down placing something under the car. I ordered her to step out and to step to the rear of the car. When she did, I looked under the car and saw pack of Marlboro Light cigarettes that still contained multiple cigarettes. I retrieved it and saw it also contained a bag of clear, crystal substance I suspected was methamphetamine.
Since I had just observed Tiffany placing something under the car exactly where I retrieved the cigarette pack from, I informed her she was also under arrest, and I placed her in handcuffs behind her back. I checked the handcuffs for proper fit and double-locked them. I searched her clothing incident to arrest and did not find any contraband. I placed Tiffany in my patrol vehicle and she asked me to retrieve her debit card from her purse. I retrieved the purse and while trying to find the debit card she asked me to find I located multiple syringes.
They were empty and Tiffany claimed they had not been used. I transported Tiffany to the Barrow County Detention Center and released her to detention staff without incident. Prior to and after arrest I searched my patrol vehicle. Audio and video are available from WatchGuard, car 2373. I will be applying for one warrant against Tiffany Worley for Possession of Methamphetamine. Officer Russo will be handling charges against Christopher Cannon (SPD case number 2021-00002160). The suspected methamphetamine was placed into a secure evidence locker.
