[NARRATIVE #1 on August 15, 2026]

On 08/15/2026 at approximately 1812 hours, I responded code 3 (emergency) to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] GA 30620 in reference to terroristic threats. Lt. Hansen advised that he was out with a black male that was threatening him. While enroute, Lt. Hansen advised that he deployed his taser and had the suspect, in custody.

While on scene, I spoke to Lt. Hansen regarding what occurred and he provided the following statement. Lt. Hansen exited his residence wearing his full Barrow County Sheriff’s Office uniform and proceeded to his marked patrol unit which was parked on the roadway in front of his residence. During this time, he observed a black male, later identified as Demainje Addison, standing in the driveway of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Demainje began yelling and making gestures towards Lt. Hansen but due to him having prior knowledge that Demainje has a drinking problem and possibly [REDACTED BY AGENCY], he told Demainje to be quiet before he ended up going to jail. Lt. Hansen attempted to ignore Demainje while he continued to yell at him, making comments to the effect of “for what? Another misdemeanor?”

As Lt. Hansen was preparing his patrol vehicle for shift, he observed Demainje making a “slashing or cutting motion” across his throat while glaring at his patrol vehicle. As Lt. Hansen began to leave the neighborhood, Demainje made several threatening comments toward Lt. Hansen which included “I got you motherf*cker!” “I got you.” Due to Demainje’s actions and comments, Lt. Hansen believed he wished to cause him or his family harm. Therefore, Lt. Hansen exited his patrol vehicle and proceeded to the front door of the residence in attempt to make contact with Demainje’s mother, [REDACTED]. After knocking on the door several times, Lt. Hansen was unable to make contact with her.

After receiving no answer at the door, Lt. Hansen returned to where Demainje was now seated in the driveway. While speaking with him, Demainje called Lt. Hansen a “n*gger”. Lt. Hansen then instructed Demainje to stand up, at which time he observed Demainje to have glassy and bloodshot eyes. Lt. Hansen could also smell a slight odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person and breath. Lt. Hansen then ordered Demainje to turn around and place his hands behind his back, but he failed to comply. He again ordered Demainje to turn around and place his hands behind his back but Demainje continued to passively resist and fail to comply. In attempt to gain voluntary compliance, Lt. Hansen deployed his taser in probe mode, achieving neuromuscular incapacitation which resulted in Demainje falling into a bush at the corner of the residence. Demainje attempted to stand up failing, to obey commands to stay on the ground, so Lt. Hansen deployed his taser in probe mode a second time, again achieving neuromuscular incapacitation. Demainje then obeyed lawful commands and was taken into custody by Lt. Hansen without further incident.

Based on Lt. Hansen’s statement, there was sufficient probable cause to charge Demainje with terroristic threats, obstruction of law enforcement, and disorderly conduct. He was searched incident to arrest, and no weapons, contraband, or means of escape were located. Demainje was then transported to the Barrow County Detention Center by Deputy Thurman, where he was released to jail staff.

The following warrants were obtained: OCGA 16-11-37 – Terroristic Threats (Felony); OCGA 16-10-24 – Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement; and OCGA 16-11-39 – Disorderly Conduct.

[NARRATIVE #2 on August, 15, 2026]

On 15 August 2026 at approximately 1800 hours, I walked out to my patrol vehicle which is parked on the roadway in front of my residence. I was in full Barrow County Sheriff’s Office uniform displaying my badge of office and my patrol vehicle is a marked unit. I observed a black male standing in the driveway of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Barrow County Georgia. The male, Demainje Addison was standing near the garage door yelling and making gestures towards me. I know Demainje has had prior run ins with law enforcement mainly being arrested for family violence offenses.

Having spoken with his mother, [REDACTED] in the past, I also know Demainje has a drinking problem and possibly [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. I loudly advised Demainje to be quiet before he ended up going to jail. Demainje continued yelling at me making comments to the effect of “for what? Another misdemeanor?” I attempted to ignore him as I continued to prepare to leave for my shift. My wife was outside during this time, and Demainje’s actions and comments were unsettling to her, so she returned inside.

I continued to prepare my patrol vehicle and computer for shift, while keeping an eye on Demainje. On several occasions while glancing up I observed Demainje making a “slashing or cutting motion” across his throat while glaring at my patrol vehicle. He was also still yelling however I was unable to make out exactly what was being said. As I proceeded to exit the neighborhood, the driver’s side window was cracked. I had to drive right by Demainje’s residence. As I did, Demainje made several comments to the effect of “I got you motherf*cker!” “I got you.” Based on Demainje’s actions of slashing his hand across his throat in a cutting motion and these statements I believed he wished to cause me or my family harm.

I immediately stopped, notified Dispatch I would be out with a black male who was threatening me and exited my patrol vehicle. I walked towards the front door of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and asked Demainje if his parents were home. I then rang the doorbell and knocked on the door. I figured to contact [REDACTED], Demainje’s mother to explain what was said and going on and see if she could assist in deescalating Demainje. After receiving no answer, I returned to Demainje and ordered him to sit down and cross his ankles. I told Demainje he had threatened me and I did not appreciate it. I then returned to the front door and ran the doorbell again and knocked loudly, again receiving no answer.

I returned to Demainje, at which point during speaking he called me a “n*gger”. I immediately advised him I was not and then ordered him to stand up. Being closer to Demainje, I observed his eyes to be glassy and bloodshot, and he had a slight alcoholic beverage emitting from his person and breath. I suspected Demainje to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. I ordered Demainje to turn around and place his hands behind his back. Demainje failed to comply, instead just looking at me. I created distance “painting” him with my department issued TASER 7 (serial# X4001645M) red and green dots again ordering him to turn around and place his hands behind his back or he would be tased. Demainje again just looked at me passively resisting and failing to obey a lawful order. I loudly verbalized “taser, taser, taser” again attempting to deescalate and get voluntary compliance out of Demainje, however he still failed to turn around and place his hands behind his back. I deployed the TASER in probe mode. Demainje immediately began to grab for the probes, and following a clothing disconnect he inadvertently made the connection, with neuromuscular incapacitation (NMI) achieved and fell into a bush at the side of the residence.

Following the five second discharge, I continued to give commands for Demainje to place his hands behind his back and stay down. Demainje again began to stand up and grab at the probes. I deployed the TASER 7 a second time in probe mode and achieved NMI a second time. This time while giving commands for him to stay down and place his hands behind his back, I heard Demainje say something to the effect of okay I’m done. I ordered him to place his hands behind his back, cross his ankles and raise them towards his butt. I then safely secured him in hand cuffs behind his back. I assisted him out of the bush, laying him on his back on the driveway. I then told him to remain there. I started towards my patrol vehicle and had to go back and again tell him to stay still. I retrieved the yellow cartridge holder and on returning to Demainje, began the process of removing the probes.

[REDACTED] then came outside and observed what was going on. Lt Kraus arrived as I removed the last probe and I requested he secure Demainje in a patrol vehicle and notified him also that the handcuffs needed to be double locked. I then began explaining to [REDACTED] what happened. She stated she had heard the banging/knocking on the door and figured it was Demainje attempting to get back in. When asked if Demainje had been drinking, [REDACTED] stated he had and they had a dispute inside the residence which led to her putting Demainje outside and locking the residence up.

I explained to her what transpired and why Demainje had been tased. I provided [REDACTED] with a case card. I secured the expended TASER 7 cartridges/probes and secured them into evidence per policy. Sgt. Bazinet is completing the case and taking warrants on Demainje for this incident. A use of force report was also completed.

[NARRATIVE #3 on August 19, 2026]

On 08/19/2026, Lt. Hansen provided an 11 minute and 1 second surveillance video from the exterior of his residence. The video begins at 18:01 hours and ends at 18:12 hours, which was the time of the dispatched call.

During the video, Demainje can be heard yelling and making various statements. At one point, Demainje can be heard making comments about there being four or five of y’all in there, I’ll kill you. The video also shows Lt. Hansen beginning to leave the neighborhood but then stopping and approaching the residence. The video was downloaded to a flash drive and submitted into evidence.
