On this date, August 05, 2026, at approximately 0151 hours, I responded Code 1 to Northeast Georgia Hospital in Winder in reference to a Domestic Dispute that occurred at [300 BLOCK] Silverleaf Trl.

I arrived at the hospital where a security officer informed me that the patient, [VICTIM #1], got into an altercation with her seventeen-year-old daughter, Faith Battle, resulting in her getting kicked in the face. Walking into the room where [VICTIM #1] was placed, I observed [VICTIM #1] having a bandage on her lip and her lip to be severely swollen. [VICTIM #1] informed me that earlier in the night she had taken her daughter’s phone away as a form of discipline and then cut out the internet.

This caused an argument but was deescalated. Later on, [VICTIM #1] was in her bedroom and getting ready to lie down for the night. She stated that her daughter then entered her room to ask for her phone and internet to be turned back on. She was told no and to go to bed since it was approximately 11:30pm. [VICTIM #1]’s bedroom lights were then turned on by Faith and the argument escalated. [VICTIM #1] stated that she got out of bed and tried to escort Faith back to bed. I had her describe me how she had to accomplish this. She stated that she had to push her out of her room because she would not leave the room when told. She used her forearm to return her to the bedroom which was across from her bedroom.

While in Faith’s bedroom, Faith was put into her bed and was told to go to bed. During this moment, Faith was kicking her legs. [VICTIM #1] stated it was temper tantrum like but then was struck in the face. [VICTIM #1] stated she didn’t realize she was kicked in the mouth at first until she noticed she was bleeding. [VICTIM #1] then called a nurse friend where she was advised to go to the hospital. Her injury was severe to where she required stitches. [VICTIM #1]’s testimony was followed up with her saying that Faith has had these temper tantrums in the past and may required some sort of anger therapy.

[VICTIM #1] would not provide precise details on the incident until I asked and her responses were not very detailed until I had to ask more questions. This appeared to be consistent with the victim attempting to prevent the suspect from getting in trouble by trying to make the actions of the suspect to be not as severe. [VICTIM #1] did state to the security officer that she did not want to press charges. I informed her that I was going to have to interview Faith and was going to be heading to her house.

Prior to my arrival at the hospital. Dispatch was receiving a call from the father of Faith, who lives in Iowa, stating the children did not feel safe. Additionally, the altercation between Faith and [VICTIM #1] was described. I arrived at [300 BLOCK] Silverleaf Trl with Deputy Simmons. Faith’s brother answered the door and escorted us the stairs. Faith came downstairs with a backpack and purse as if she was getting ready to leave. She informed me that it was “just in case” and her uncle was heading to the residence. I had her sit down on the couch and provide me with her side of the story. She informed me that her mother has chores for her and her brothers to do in the home. It was decided by the children to not clean the kitchen until after dinner was cooked so they could wait to clean the counters at one time. She described that while she was on the phone with her mother, [VICTIM #1] was irate with them. However, when she got home, she was calm, which she found strange. Faith stated that there was an incident in which they argued and her phone was taken and later the internet was cut off as a punishment.

Faith then described that she didn’t have time to herself on her devices, so she went back to her mother’s room later in the night. She apologized to her mother and asked for her phone back. Her mother thanked her for the apology but refused and told her to go. Faith was then adamant to talk to her mother so she turned on the lights. Faith stated that this angered her mother and “charged” at her. I asked her what she meant by charged and replied with her mother “ran” at her. I asked if it was a full sprint and Faith stated yes. She continued to say that she retreated to her room and her mother entered her bedroom. She stated she was on her bed then became afraid because her mother was grabbing her shoulders and going for her neck. She stated that she was having flashbacks to past trauma with her mother, so she closed her eyes and started kicking in fear. The result of this was her mother getting kicked in the face.

Her mother, now bleeding, stated that she was going to take her injury and “use it as evidence against her.” Her mother then went to the hospital. Faith, during her testimony appeared to speak quickly and appeared to use hyperbolic detail describing her mother’s actions. In my training and experience this is commonly used to shift blame away from the suspect. Her speech cadence and body language appeared to a deceptive tactic as if her testimony was rehearsed. I told Faith to wait on the couch and Deputy Simmons and I exited the house. Moments later, I asked Faith to come outside to talk to me. I informed her that her mother did not want to press charges but then explained the family violence act. She was informed she was being placed under arrest.

Faith Battle was handcuffed behind the back. The handcuffs were double locked and checked for fit. A search of their person was conducted incident to arrest. No weapons or contraband were located. Faith Battle was secured in the rear seat with a seat belt. Faith Battle was escorted to the Barrow County Detention Center and released to deputies without incident. A search of my rear seat was conducted before and after transport. No items were found. Pictures of [VICTIM #1]’s lip has been attached to this case. My probable cause of arrest is when Faith Battle reengaged her mother, [VICTIM #1], after a prior argument regarding discipline over her phone and internet. This reengaged interaction led to another argument in which Faith Battle was escorted to her room and began kicking her legs at her mother. One of her kicks struck [VICTIM #1] in her mouth, causing physical injury and disfigurement to her lip. The injury sustained required [VICTIM #1] to obtain stitches in her bottom lip.

Warrants to be taken for the following charge. O.C.G.A. § 16-5-24 – Aggravated Battery

A person commits the offense of aggravated battery when he or she maliciously causes bodily harm to another by:
(1) Depriving him or her of a member of his or her body;
(2) Rendering a member of his or her body useless; or
(3) Seriously disfiguring his or her body or a member thereof.

O.C.G.A. § 19-13-1 – Family Violence Act
As used in this article, the term “family violence” means the occurrence of one or more of the following acts between past or present spouses, persons who are parents of the same child, parents and children, stepparents and stepchildren, foster parents and foster children, or other persons living or formerly living in the same household:
(1) Any felony; or
(2) The commission of offenses of battery, simple battery, simple assault, assault, stalking, criminal damage to property, unlawful restraint, criminal trespass, or any criminal offense resulting in physical injury or bodily injury.

The term “family violence” shall not be deemed to include reasonable discipline administered by a parent to a child in the form of corporal punishment, restraint, or detention.
