On Thursday, February 6, 2025, at approximately 2015 hours, I responded code 1 to 940 Haymon Morris Road (Apalachee High School) in reference to a Domestic Dispute which occurred at [70 BLOCK] Dolcetto Drive.
Upon arrival, I spoke with [VICTIM #1] in the student parking lot. [VICTIM #1] stated that she had gotten into two separate arguments with her boyfriend, Giovanni Piazza, earlier in the day. [VICTIM #1] stated that during the argument, Giovanni placed his hands around her neck, choking her causing her to begin to blackout, and grabbed her by her arms. Red marks were seen on [VICTIM #1]’s neck and face consistent with being strangled, bruising was seen on her left wrist, and [VICTIM #1]’s voice was very hoarse. [VICTIM #1] stated that her 4-year-old juvenile daughter, and their 1-and-a-half-year-old juvenile son, were in the house during the argument, they were still at the residence, and she wanted to make sure they were alright.
[VICTIM #1] stated that when she told Giovanni that she was going to call the police, he said if you do, I will get a no-contact order against her. EMS was called to the scene to assess [VICTIM #1]’s injuries. [VICTIM #1] was evaluated but refused services at the scene.
I then went to [70 BLOCK] Dolcetto Drive to speak with Giovanni. When asked about what occurred that day, Giovanni stated he had gotten into 2 arguments with [VICTIM #1] and that during the arguments, [VICTIM #1] refused to let him leave the room. Giovanni stated that he grabbed her by her shoulders to move her out of the way. Giovanni stated that [VICTIM #1] closed the door at one point, and he had to kick the door off the frame to get back into the house. [VICTIM #1] later valued the door to be $800.
During the investigation, Giovanni admitted that he placed his hands around [VICTIM #1]’s neck.
Giovanni was then taken into custody for the charges of Battery- Family Violence (16-5-23.1) due to the bruising and red marks left on [VICTIM #1]’s arms, Aggravated Assault- Family Violence (16-5-21) due to strangling [VICTIM #1], causing her to begin to blackout, 2 counts of Cruelty to Children in the 3rd degree (16-5-70(d)(2) due to the children being present during the time of the crimes, and Criminal Damage to Property in the 2nd degree (16-7-23) due to the damage caused to the residence by kicking the door valued at $800. Giovanni was handcuffed behind his back, which were double locked and checked for fit He was searched incident to arrest where nothing was found in the search and placed in the rear passenger seat of a patrol car to be transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.
[VICTIM #1] was provided with a domestic violence information pamphlet with the case number on it. [VICTIM #1] advised about the services available to her, shown the number to the Peace Place for additional assistance, and spoken to about the next steps.
