On 07/18/2022 at 1954 hours, I arrived on scene to a dispute at the BCSO-UPD (233 East Broad St Winder GA, 30680) in order to assist Ofc. Flores (W154) and Cpl. Martinelli (W135).
On scene I observed and heard a male, later identified as Lafavion Brown, verbally arguing with another male. I asked Lafavion to walk away from the situation with me so the situation would de-escalate. Lafavion agreed and walked away from the argument. I asked Lafavion what his name and date of birth was and he stated his name was Lafavion Brown and his date of birth was [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/2001.
I conducted a GCIC search for his name and date of birth and observed Lafavion was wanted out of Barrow County with a felony warrant for “failure to register as a sex offender”. The warrant number was 20222142FW. I approached Lafavion and instructed him to place his hands behind his back because I was detaining him to confirm a warrant on him.
At 1955 hours I placed handcuffs on Lafavion’s wrists, checked them for proper fit, and double locked them. I conducted a consensual pat down of Lafavion’s person and placed him in the back seat of my marked patrol vehicle #383. I requested dispatch to confirm the warrant as well as place me on a “warrant service” call type.
Dispatch advised me the warrant had been confirmed and Barrow County requested to place a hold on Lafavion. Lafavion was informed the warrant was valid and he was under arrest. I conducted a search incident to arrest of Lafavion’s person for weapons, contraband, and means of escape. The search yielded negative results. I placed Lafavion in the rear passenger’s seat of my patrol vehicle and secured him with a seat belt.
At 2028 hours I transported Lafavion to the Barrow County Detention Center (652 Barrow Park Dr Winder GA 30680) and turned him and his personal belongings over to the Barrow County Detention Center Deputies. I searched the back seat of my patrol vehicle before and after transport. The search yielded negative results.
