On November 14, 2021, I responded code 1 to 440 Atlanta Hwy, Wal-Mart, in reference to a shoplifter in custody. Upon my arrival, I met with Ms. [WITNESS #1], the complainant/employee.

Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that she began to watch her. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that they went to the Pets section where Ms. Abercrombie selected a bottle of vitamins. Ms. Abercrombie then concealed the vitamins along with some items she already had collected into her purse. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that Ms. Abercrombie went to register 52 where she paid for a pair of pants, but not the items she concealed in her purse. Once she passed the last point of sale Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that she stopped her.

Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that once stopped Ms. Abercrombie cooperated. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated that she then called law enforcement. Ms. [WITNESS #1] provided a written statement, placed it into the CID box, and a copy of the video, placed into the Barrow County Evidence room. Ms. [WITNESS #1] was provided a case card for this incident.

Ms. Abercrombie was then arrested and placed into double-locked handcuffs. Ms. Abercrombie was then placed into the back seat of my patrol vehicle. I then transported Ms. Abercrombie to the Barrow County Jail where she was turned over to on-duty jail staff.

Ms. Abercrombie was charged with OCGA 16-8-14, Theft by Shoplifting, on a Magistrate Citation, MC00019. Ms. Abercrombie was also served with a notice of Prohibited Entry.

I checked my patrol vehicle for contraband prior to placing Ms. Abercrombie into it and prior to leaving the jail.
