On 01-29-2025 at approximately 20:11 hours I was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] Blue Iris CT in reference to a domestic dispute. As I approached the front door of the residence I could hear yelling coming from inside. I knocked on the door. I was met by Mrs. Melea Wonsehleay. I immediately noticed an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. I noticed a small scratch across the front of her throat. I could see to the base of the stairs in the foyer. There was luggage at the bottom of the stairs with clothing and other personal items strewn across the floor. I asked Melea what happened.
Melea alleged her daughter, Mrs. [VICTIM #1], stole all her designer purses and sold them. Melea confronted [VICTIM #1] about her missing purses. Melea claimed the discussion turned heated and [VICTIM #1] got in her face. [VICTIM #1] pushed Melea and scratched her neck. Melea responded by shoving [VICTIM #1] away from her. Melea kept repeating [VICTIM #1] hit her first and this was not the first time [VICTIM #1] had stolen her bags.
[VICTIM #1] came out to the carport area to speak with me. I noticed [VICTIM #1] had red marks on her neck and throat. [VICTIM #1] was crying and distraught. I asked [VICTIM #1] what happened. [VICTIM #1] was in her room when her mother came in. Melea came in accusing [VICTIM #1] of stealing her designer bags. Melea went into the closet and started throwing all of [VICTIM #1]’s belongings into the floor, hallway and down the stairs. Melea grabbed [VICTIM #1]’s blue tooth speaker ripped the cord out and threw the speaker at her. The speaker missed its intended target and struck the wall behind [VICTIM #1].
[VICTIM #1] said Melea was irate. Melea swung the power cord from the speaker and struck [VICTIM #1] in the inner left thigh. Melea pulled her pants to the side revealing a laceration and raised red mark consistent with being struck with a power cord. Melea ripped [VICTIM #1] from the bed by her hair and grabbed her by her throat. Melea strangled [VICTIM #1] to the point she could not breath. [VICTIM #1] was able to break away from Melea’s grasp. Melea went back to throwing all of [VICTIM #1]’s personal belongings on the floor and down the stairs while yelling for her to get out. [VICTIM #1] allowed me to come in the residence to observe the scene. I observed all of [VICTIM #1]’s clothing strewn about the floor in her bedroom, hall and stairwell. There was a juvenile male at the residence, but he was not present for the altercation between the two women.
I went back to Melea and informed her she was under arrest. I secured Melea in handcuffs behind her back. The handcuffs were double locked and checked for proper fit. Melea protested and claimed the juvenile was not safe with [VICTIM #1]. Melea’s nearest other family was in Texas. [VICTIM #1] frequently cared for the juvenile. [VICTIM #1] agreed to care for the juvenile. The juvenile told deputies he was comfortable staying with his sister ([VICTIM #1]). An ambulance responded to asses [VICTIM #1]’s injuries but she elected not to be transported for treatment.
Melea was secured in the rear of my marked patrol vehicle. I transported Melea to the Barrow County Detention Center and released her to deputies. The rear of my marked patrol vehicle was checked for contraband prior to and following transport. I am securing arrest warrants against Melea for the offenses of aggravated assault (FV), battery (FV) and criminal trespass (FV). [VICTIM #1] was provided a victim pamphlet with the case number for this report.
