On 11/10/2021 at approximately 0919 hours I responded code 1 to [100 BLOCK] Ashwood Way, Winder Ga, in reference to a dispute. The complainant, Reagin O’Connor, advised she found another woman in bed with her husband.
When I arrived on scene Officer Henderson was speaking with Reagin at the front of her vehicle. While Officer Henderson spoke with Reagin, I went to the residence to speak with her husband, [WITNESS #1]. I made contact with [WITNESS #1] on the front porch and asked him to explain what happened. [WITNESS #1] explained he and Reagin were in the middle of a separation. [WITNESS #1] advised Reagin had not been to the residence in a month and had suddenly showed up that morning. [WITNESS #1] explained he was laying in bed with his friend, [VICTIM #1], when Reagin opened the bedroom door and confronted him. [WITNESS #1] said the argument moved to the living room. [WITNESS #1] also advised Reagin “went after her” with a wrench that she pick up from the coffee table, indicating Reagin went after [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #1] also stated he had interior security cameras which captured the incident.
I then went to speak with [VICTIM #1]. I made contact with [VICTIM #1] still in the bed. I asked [VICTIM #1] to explain what happened. [VICTIM #1] advised she and [WITNESS #1] were laying in the bed when Reagin entered the room taking pictures and yelling. As the argument between [WITNESS #1] and Reagin continued, [VICTIM #1] advised Reagin came back into the room holding a large wrench. [VICTIM #1] said Reagin came to the bedside and raised the wrench above her head in a striking position. [VICTIM #1] stated Reagin threatened to hit her and ordered her out of the bed. [WITNESS #1] then entered the room and was able to wrestle the wrench away from Reagin. [VICTIM #1] told me she was scared during the incident and believed she was going to be hit by the wrench. [VICTIM #1] confirmed she wished to pursue criminal charges regarding the incident.
After speaking with the subjects inside the residence I viewed the interior security video. The video shows Reagin entering the residence through the back door and walking into the kitchen. Reagin then cracks open the bedroom door and takes a look inside before closing it and making a phone call. Reagin walks around the living room while on the phone and then goes back to the bedroom door. Reagin opens the door and confronts [WITNESS #1] and [VICTIM #1] inside the room. The argument between [WITNESS #1] and Reagin takes place in the bedroom, doorway, and living room initially. During the argument Reagin picks up the wrench from the coffee table and goes to the open bedroom door. [WITNESS #1] attempts to stop Reagin by closing the door on her and trying to take the wrench. Reagin can be seen pushing through [WITNESS #1] and entering the room with the wrench. The camera loses visual of Reagin just as she gets close to the bed. [WITNESS #1] enters the room just after Reagin and can be seen leaving the room with the wrench and Reagin.
At this time I went to speak with Reagin and asked her to explain what happened. Reagin stated she went to the house to retrieve property for her son. When she checked the bedroom she found [WITNESS #1] and [VICTIM #1] laying on the bed together. Reagin stated she also saw a large dog in the room, so she picked up the wrench to defend herself. Reagin said she called her sister on the phone before confronting [WITNESS #1]. Reagin stated she took the wrench into the room because of the dog and did not threaten or attempt to hit anyone. I advised Reagin I had watch interior security footage and that parts of her story were inconsistent with what I saw. Reagin stuck to her original story.
Based on statements from all three parties and the video, I identified Reagin as the aggressor in the incident. Reagin’s statements were also inconsistent with the video I watch. Reagin stated she retrieved the wrench for protection from the dog, yet on the video Reagin confronted [WITNESS #1] and opened the door without the wrench in had for “protection”. The wrench was picked up further into the argument before Reagin went into the room and directly to the bedside.
Reagin was advised she was under arrest for Aggravated Assault. I handcuffed Reagin behind her back, checking for proper fit and double locking. I escorted Reagin to the back of my patrol vehicle where she was searched incident to arrest by Officer Henderson. Reagin was helped into the back seat and secured with a seatbelt.
[WITNESS #1] and [VICTIM #1] declined to complete written statement forms. [WITNESS #1] took custody of his infant son on scene and Reagin’s vehicle was retrieved by her sister.
Reagin was transported to the Barrow County Detention Center and turned over to jail personnel. The back seat of my vehicle was checked before and after transport.
I secured an arrest warrant on Reagin O’Connor for Aggravated Assault (2021-1541FW).
Incident recorded on body cam 123 and in car video 407. Body cam 142 was also activated for this incident.
