Officer’s Narrative:

On August 13, 2026 at approximately 1222 hours I responded to [600 BLOCK] Knightsbridge Lane in reference to a dispute. The caller advised the father of her children had assaulted her and was actively assaulting another male in the residence, even “trying to kill” him. I responded using my emergency lights and siren.
Upon arrival I observed a female sitting in a vehicle in the driveway. As I approached her a male walked out of the residence into the garage. He had a small amount of blood on his face and was breathing heavily. He began telling me and other deputies that he had just caught the female and the other male having a sexual relationship. I asked him to come out of the garage and turned him over to other deputies for the time.
Since the female had stated one male was attempting to kill the other, we decided we needed to enter the residence to check the welfare of the other male. As we approached the door it opened and the other male began coming out. His face was covered in blood and he had blood on his hands. I quickly observed the handle of a large knife sticking out of his waist band and I pointed it out to the other deputies. When I pointed it out the male placed his left hand on his shirt and the handle of the knife. I grabbed it as well and told him to let it go. He quickly released it and stated he was just trying to protect himself from the male who had assaulted him. I told him I understood and took the knife from him. I carried it into the kitchen and then returned to him, where I observed and took a butter knife out of his left, front pant pocket. I took it into the kitchen as well and asked the male to go into the garage and sit down. He complied so I went outside and began interviewing the female and males.
I interviewed the female first. She was identified as [VICTIM #1] by her Georgia driver’s license. She explained she had previously been in a relationship with Zachary, who was the male that had entered the garage first, but they had broken up more than a year ago. She also explained they have two children together and Zachary frequently watched the youngest one while she worked (she worked from home). She stated Zachary had brought their youngest child to her residence at approximately 1100 hours, and he was upset the other male, identified as [VICTIM #2], was there. He reacted by starting to gather all of his belongings in the house, which I later learned were nearly all the home’s furnishings.
While taking apart and moving a bed in the room [VICTIM #1] used as an office, Zachary asked [VICTIM #1] if she and [VICTIM #2] had had sex on the bed. [VICTIM #1] told him they had and Zachary responded by pushing over the chair [VICTIM #1] was sitting in, resulting in her falling in the floor. [VICTIM #2] responded by telling Zachary not to put his hands on [VICTIM #1], and Zachary immediately responded by tackling [VICTIM #2] to the floor and assaulting him. [VICTIM #1] stated she quickly got up from the floor and fled the room while she called 911. She showed me scratches on her right arm and stated they had occurred when her chair was thrown into the floor. They were consistent with her having reached out in an attempt to catch or brace herself while falling.
I next spoke to [VICTIM #2]. He stated [VICTIM #1] and Zachary were arguing and Zachary pushed over the chair [VICTIM #1] was sitting in, causing her to fall onto the floor. He stated he told Zachary to “chill out” and that Zachary immediately tackled him and began putting him into wrestling moves because he was a wrestling coach. He stated those moves included him wrapping his arm around his neck and throat and applying pressure. He stated it also felt like Zachary grabbed his throat with his hand and tried to rip his throat out. I asked him if either of these moves caused him difficulty breathing and he stated both had. He stated it also felt like Zachary had tried to gouge out his eyes and that Zachary had struck him numerous times with his fist. I asked him what he was doing while Zachary was doing this and he stated he had just been trying to get out of the floor and get away from him.
While I spoke to [VICTIM #2], I observed his right cheek and eye were getting more swollen. By that time the blood had been cleaned off his face, and I could see most of it was coming from a cut in his left ear. I also observed redness around his neck and throat. He told me he wanted to press charges on Zachary for the assault. After I spoke to him, I allowed him to go with medical personnel to the hospital for evaluation.
I next spoke to Zachary. I first read him “Miranda” and he stated he did not want to answer any of my questions simply because he had already answered numerous questions asked by other deputies on scene. In speaking with other deputies on scene I learned Zachary had a very defined bite mark on his stomach that came from [VICTIM #2] trying to get away from him. After speaking to everyone on scene I decided Zachary had been the predominant physical aggressor against both [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2]. He had already been detained in handcuffs so I informed him he was under arrest.
Prior to leaving the scene I provided [VICTIM #1] and Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Family Violence Pamphlet and informed her the next steps in the criminal justice process. I transported Zachary to the Barrow County Detention Center and released him to detention staff without incident. Prior to and after transport I searched my patrol vehicle. I have applied for and been issued warrants against Zachary Wright for Aggravated Assault for actions against [VICTIM #2] that resulted in [VICTIM #2] not being able to breathe when he wrapped his arm around his neck and then when he grabbed his throat, applying pressure both time; Battery for causing significant injury to [VICTIM #2] when he punched him numerous times in the face; Battery (family violence) for injuring [VICTIM #1] when he intentionally pushed over the chair she was sitting in, resulting in scratches to her right arm.
At 1643 hours, I went to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Barrow and talked to [VICTIM #2] again. He was being discharged and he allowed me to see the paperwork. It included his official diagnoses and they were: subconjunctival hemorrhage of right eye, laceration of left earlobe, contusion of face, and closed fracture of orbit. His right eye was visibly blood shot but he did not seem to be in any pain.
