On Thursday, 05-08-2025 at 0923 hours, I was dispatched to [10 BLOCK] Roach Drive Aragon, GA in reference to an unknown problem, later determined to be a domestic dispute. Prior to my arrival, dispatch advised that the call came in as a possible fall detection, however, they had an open line and could hear a female out of breath. The female made a statement about not wanting anyone to be killed and it appeared that a domestic situation was taking place.
Upon arrival I observed a white male with a bald head pacing in the yard to the left of the garage. I could tell that the male appeared to be upset or angry by the way he was staring at the ground, had his fists clinched, and the continuous pacing. The male was later identified as Andrew Roach. Andrew looked in my direction as I exited my patrol car and then started walking towards the back of the residence towards the woods. I followed and told Andrew to come talk to me and he complied by turning around and walking towards me. I tried several times to speak to Andrew and he would not speak back. He sat down on some stairs that were in the yard next to the driveway and just continued to look at the ground. I continued to try and speak to Andrew and after a couple of minutes he stood up and started to walk back towards the back of the residence where he originally went to. As I followed behind him, he pointed to a large knife that was laying in the grass and said “there is a knife right there” and continued to walk away. Deputy Patton and I detained Andrew at this time by placing him into handcuffs. I noticed that Andrew had some blood on his arms and hands but it did not appear to be coming from him.
I observed several broken flower pots and a few miscellaneous items scattered in the yard that appeared to be intentional and out of place. Andrew’s father/victim/[VICTIM #1] came outside of the residence and I noticed that he had blood on his person and clothing. I had Deputy Patton speak to him and let him be checked out by Metro Atlanta EMS personnel on scene while I went inside and spoke to other parties involved. I met with Andrew’s wife/victim/[VICTIM #2] and his mother/victim/[VICTIM #3].
[VICTIM #2] stated the following:
She and Andrew live in the basement of the residence. The two of them got into an argument and Andrew pushed her. The two of them went upstairs at which time she went into one of the bedrooms and Andrew went into the kitchen to possibly get some coffee. During this time the two were still verbally arguing. [VICTIM #1] (Andrew’s father) came out of his bedroom at the end of the hallway and confronted Andrew telling him that he did not need to speak to [VICTIM #2] the way he was. Andrew then threw a glass coffee mug down the hallway in the direction of [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] and Andrew then got in each other’s face, began yelling at each other, and making physical contact with each other. The physical altercation continued down the hallway, into the living room where the wall was damaged )by their bodies slamming into it), and into the kitchen. While in the kitchen, Andrew broke the wooden china cabinet while continuing to strike [VICTIM #1]. Andrew then went outside of the residence and 911 was called. [VICTIM #2] further stated that she saw Andrew come back in the residence and go down to the basement but she did not know that he had retrieved one of his chef knives until she saw it laying in the yard once law enforcement was already on scene.
I spoke to [VICTIM #3] who provided the same story as [VICTIM #2]. [VICTIM #3] was visibly upset and stated that she and [VICTIM #2] tried to get Andrew and [VICTIM #1] off of each other several times. She also told me that she witnessed Andrew throw the coffee mug in towards [VICTIM #1] in the direction of their bedroom. [VICTIM #3] further stated that [ANDREW] has been having anger issues for several years and she also believes that he becomes manic. She said that he was not under the care of a doctor or taking any medication for his issues at this time. [VICTIM #3] also told me that the damaged flower pots outside were a result of Andrew kicking them.
Deputy Patton interviewed [VICTIM #1] about the incident. [VICTIM #1]’s account of what occurred were very similar to that of [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #3]’s. [VICTIM #1] said during the argument and physical altercation, he was struck in the nose by Andrew. Paramedics on scene stated that [VICTIM #1]’s nose was broken and he needed to go to the hospital to which he agreed to be taken by a family member. [VICTIM #1] said that he was just trying to protect his family from Andrew because he is familiar with his anger issues.
Photographs were taken of the scene and [VICTIM #1] by Deputy Patton and Deputy Brand. All events were recorded on all body worn cameras (BW956,914,948,929).
I explained the domestic violence laws to all parties on scene and advised them of the available remedies and services. I provided them with information for the victim’s advocate, information on protective orders, and explained the process for bond hearings involving charges of domestic violence. All parties on scene stated that [ANDREW] did not need to be there and needed help for his anger and mental health issues.
Andrew was transported to the jail by Deputy Patton. During the transport and at the jail, Andrew admitted to Deputy Patton that he pushed [VICTIM #2] while they were arguing. He also made statements that he was suicidal and homicidal which resulted in him being placed on suicide watch.
Arrest warrants were secured on Andrew for the following charges:
- Simple Battery FVA
- Simple Assault FVA
- Aggravated Battery FVA
- Criminal damage to property (2nd) FVA
