On Thursday, May 15th, 2025, at approximately 1957 hours, I was dispatched to 914 Joe Frank Harris Pkwy SE in reference to an accident that had occurred with three vehicles in the parking lot of Dollar General.
Upon arriving at the scene, Officer Smith had gathered all the parties’ information that were involved. I approached the suspect, Ashley Dover who was standing outside of a black in color Nissan Rouge (GA-[REDACTED]). While speaking to Ms. Dover, Officer Garner detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Ms. Dover. Officer Garner observed that Ms. Dover’s eyes were bloodshot and watery.
While speaking to Ms. Dover, I observed that Ms. Dover was unsteady on her feet and her speech was slurred and thick. Due to Ms. Dover’s mannerisms, I believed that Ms. Dover was under the influence of alcohol. Ms. Dover stated that she did drink at El Dorado and that it was the same amount as “them.” When asked for a specific amount, Ms. Dover replied with “Not enough.”
Ms. Dover did agree to do Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST), but before conducting SFST, Ms. Dover started SFST on her own, without receiving the proper instructions. Officer Garner advised Ms. Dover to stand still and to follow his instructions. Ms. Dover did not comply and insisted that she knew what she was doing.
Due to Ms. Dover not complying with instructions and her inability to maintain balance while standing still, Ms. Dover was arrested for DUI Alcohol Less safe. Ms. Dover’s hands were placed behind her back, double locked, and checked for proper fitting. Ms. Dover was searched for contraband and none was found.
While escorting Ms. Dover to the rear of my marked patrol car, Ms. Dover started using fighting words the other party involved and in the presence of children, by stating, “Look at those motherfu*kers, oh my god.” “Shut up you little police bi*ch, ain’t nobody worried about you.” “Fu*king dirty a*s fu*king wh*re.”
While Ms. Dover was in the rear of my marked patrol car, I read Ms. Dover the Implied Consent Notice, which Ms. Dover refused to test. A search incident to arrest was conducted on the vehicle M. Dover was operating yielding no contraband. Steels towing arrived on scene and towed the vehicle away.
Once arriving at the PD, Ms. Dover started to get agitated and did not want to comply with verbal commands to sit in a chair while I was obtaining a search warrant for Ms. Dover’s blood. After Ms. Dover was not complying with multiple verbal commands to stay seated, Ms. Dover was escorted to the rear of my patrol car. I transported Ms. Dover to the Bartow County jail where she was turned over to jail staff. I searched my patrol car for contraband and found none.
I later secured warrants for Ms. Dover for DUI- Less safe (CE-0173938), Obstruction on Law Enforcement official (CE-0173936), and Disorderly Conduct (CE-0173937).
