Officer’s Narrative:

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 2329 hours, I was dispatched to a domestic violence at [10 BLOCK] Clearview Drive SE Cartersville.

When I arrived at the scene we parked our vehicle just down from the residence and approached on foot. I could see the front door open and could hear Victim 1 screaming from inside the residence. As I entered the open doorway, I observed Victim 1 laying on the steps with a laceration to her midsection. Victim 1 was asked by Ofc. Foster where was the person who stabbed her. Victim 1 stated that her son stabbed her and he was up the stairs and that her other son and husband had him detained.

I proceeded up the stairs and observed Victim 2 and Victim 3 on top of the Suspect, Mr. Brandon Reaves. I immediately noticed that there was a substantial amount of blood all over the floor, and everyone involved.

The suspect, Brandon Reaves, was pinned down by his brother and father. Officer Foster and I moved in on Brandon Reaves and secured him in handcuffs behind the back, doubled locked, and checked for proper fit. Brandon Reaves was searched incident to arrest, and no contraband or weapons were found. Officer Foster asked where was the knife used in the attack. Lt. Logue advised that it was located near [REDACTED] on the steps. Lt. Logue secured the knife as evidence before EMS arrived. We then began rendering first aid to all parties involved.

His brother, Victim 3, received a puncture on the chest, back, and leg. His father, Victim 2 had been stabbed and had noticeable puncture wounds on his right arm and right side of his back. Fire and EMS were called to the scene. His mother, Victim 1, had severe cuts and puncture wounds across her stomach and was assisted by Lt. Logue until EMS arrived. She was then transported to Kennestone ER. Victim 3 and Victim 2 were also transported to Kennestone ER for medical treatment.

Officer Foster asked Victim 2 what happened in the home tonight. Victim 2 stated that he was in the hallway by his bedroom when he observed Brandon with a knife coming up the stairs. He asked Brandon what was he doing with the knife and he replied “I am using it”. Victim 2 asked Brandon “What are you using that for?” and then Brandon replied “I am using it on you”.

Victim 2 stated that he quickly entered his room and slammed the door. He then remembered that his wife and Victim 3 were downstairs. Victim 2 stated that he could hear an altercation from the area of the stairs and he exited the bedroom. Victim 1 had been stabbed in the stomach. He and Victim 3 attempted to get the knife from Brandon. Victim 2 stated that his wife was able to call 911 while they held Brandon down.

I spoke with Victim 3 about the incident. He stated that he was in the kitchen when he saw his brother Brandon stabbing his mother with a knife. He and his father took Brandon down and held him there until law enforcement arrived.

CID Sgt. Wilkey, Lt. Albright, and Detective Guthridge responded to the scene. The investigation was turned over to CID.

Brandon Reaves was treated by EMS and also needed to be transported to Kennestone ER for further treatment. I rode in the back of an ambulance with Mr. Reaves while Officer Foster followed the ambulance to Kennestone ER. While in the ER, Mr. Reaves was medically evaluated and treated. He had stitches placed on both of his hands.

A GCIC check of Brandon Reaves revealed that he had an active warrant from Bartow County for Felony Violation of Probation, Warrant # 251629F, taken on 4/23/26. Cartersville Dispatch confirmed the warrant was valid.

Once Mr. Brandon Reaves was cleared from Kennestone Hospital, I transported him to the Bartow County Jail where he was booked in and released to their custody. My patrol vehicle was searched before and after transport, with no contraband being located.
