On 05/12/2025 at approximately 09:31 hours I, Sgt. Burchett while employed by the Adairsville Police Department, was flagged down by Miss [VICTIM #1] at [100 BLOCK] King St who stated that she needed to make a report of domestic violence. I observed that Miss [VICTIM #1] had a large cut on her nose that was actively bleeding. I also noticed Miss [VICTIM #1]’s nose looked to be broken and curved.
Miss [VICTIM #1] stated that she was punched in the face with a closed fist by her boyfriend in which she lives with, Mr. Brian Keith West. Miss [VICTIM #1] stated that she resided at [100 BLOCK] King St with Mr. West but is currently in the process of moving out.
Miss [VICTIM #1] stated that Mr. West was at the residence and just left on foot in the direction of [100 BLOCK] George St. I asked Miss [VICTIM #1] what the argument was about and she stated that Mr. West was cheating with a resident at [100 BLOCK] George St and she had confronted Mr. West about the cheating. Miss [VICTIM #1] stated that Mr. West became upset and punched her in the face, breaking her nose.
Detective Desai located Mr. West at [100 BLOCK] George St. Detective Desai detained Mr. West while I continued speaking to Miss [VICTIM #1]. I requested EMS to check Miss [VICTIM #1]’s injury. I asked Miss [VICTIM #1] if she had struck Mr. West in any way, even defensively. Miss [VICTIM #1] stated that she never hit Mr. West.
Upon EMS arrival the EMTs checked Miss [VICTIM #1]’s nose, confirming that it was likely broken. Miss [VICTIM #1] was worried about her vehicle and belongings in the vehicle and decided to refuse transport to the hospital. Miss [VICTIM #1] stated that she was going to drive to the Gordon Advent Hospital to receive treatment.
After gathering Miss [VICTIM #1]’s information I joined Detective Desai at [100 BLOCK] George St. I began speaking to Mr. West who was sitting on the ground in the yard. I asked Mr. West what had occurred. Mr. West stated that Miss [VICTIM #1] had walked to [100 BLOCK] George St where he was located and began an argument over cheating. Mr. West stated that he accused Miss [VICTIM #1] of cheating. Mr. West stated that he walked to the street away from the residence with Miss [VICTIM #1].
Mr. West stated that while walking on George Street Miss [VICTIM #1] struck him in the face. Mr. West stated that he reacted and punched Miss [VICTIM #1] in the face. I advised Mr. West that he broke Miss [VICTIM #1]’s nose and I placed him under arrest for Aggravated Battery Family Violence. I placed Mr. West into hand restraints and double locked them. I searched Mr. West’s outer garments and placed him into the rear seat of my patrol vehicle.
I transported Mr. West to the Bartow County Jail where he was released to the jail staff without further incident. I returned to the Police Department and secured an arrest warrant for the same charge. I took pictures of Miss [VICTIM #1]’s injury and placed the pictures onto the OneDrive computer files.
