On Monday, September 7, 2026 at approximately 0249 hours, I responded with Officer Cox to 1400 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, room [REDACTED], Cartersville in reference to a welfare check on a female. The caller stated they had received calls and texts from a family member at this location in reference to a domestic dispute which had turned physical.

Officer Cox arrived on scene first and made contact with the caller, Ms. [REDACTED] and then the victim, Victim 1. Officer Cox reported that the suspect had fled the scene prior to his arrival and provided a description of a black male with braided hair last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

While Officer Cox continued to gather information I checked the area of Grassdale suites and the surrounding area looking for the suspect, Mr. Dionysuis Reed. I finally located Mr. Reed sitting on the stairwell of the [REDACTED] building.

I approached Mr. Reed and identified myself and explained the reason for the contact. Mr. Reed stated that he was not the male I was looking for. Mr. Reed stated he did not live in apartment [REDACTED] but lived in the [REDACTED] building but would not state which room. Mr. Reed further stated he lived alone and was not involved in any disturbance with anyone. Mr. Reed also stated that he had no identification on his person.

After speaking with Mr. Reed for several minutes I was met with Officer Cox who identified this male, Mr. Reed, as the suspect and stated that the victim had substantial bruising to her body. Officer Cox explained that the victim had reported that she and Mr. Reed had been dating for approximately one year and had lived together for over one month at this location. Over the last two days, September 5 to September 7, 2026 Mr. Reed had pushed her into furniture in the room, pushed her to the floor, struck her and strangled her to the point she had difficulty breathing. Officer Cox added that Victim 1 had bruising to her left leg, buttocks and lower back.

At this point Mr. Reed was arrested for Aggravated Assault-strangulation FVA, Battery FVA and Obstruction. A search incident to arrest also revealed that Mr. Reed did have identification in his pocket although he had previously stated he did not. Mr. Reed was advised on his rights and stated he understood. Mr. Reed continued to deny harming Victim 1 in any way. Mr. Reed was placed into a patrol vehicle while I met with the victim to gather additional information.

I observed the bruising to Victim l’s left leg and noted that she was walking with a limp. I furtherobserved bruising to her left buttock and lower back on the left side. These bruises were in the size and shape of the closed fist. I further noted that Victim 1 was speaking in a low, quiet voice as though it was difficult to talk.

Victim 1 was provided her rights as a victim and provided a case card.

Officer Brock stated that he had recorded Victim l’s statement on his body worn camera (see supplement). Officer Brock also made contact with the original caller and collected additional evidence.

Mr. Reed was transported to the Bartow County Jail for the following charges:

One count of Aggravated Assault-strangulation FVA
One count of Battery FVA
One count of Obstruction

Mr. Reed was released to the jail without incident. My vehicle was searched at the start of my shift, before and after transport without any contraband found.

Warrants were obtained and added to the case file.

Other officers on scene were Ofc. Cox, Ofc. Brock, Sgt. Blackstock and Lt. B.Y. Cole.
