On August 20, 2026, at 0839, I was dispatched to [10 BLOCK] Bald Eagle LNDG NW, Adairsville, GA, in reference to a physical domestic dispute in progress. While en route, 911 dispatch advised that someone was possibly bleeding from being hit with a hammer. 911 Dispatch then advised that Edward Kuykendall was the subject who used the hammer to hit the victim.

I arrived on scene and saw a male subject sitting in a chair in the corner of the garage of the residence with a hammer lying on the ground next to where he was sitting. I approached the male and asked him for his name, and he stated that he was Edward Kuykendall. I then asked Kuykendall what happened, and he stated that another male subject was trying to force him to take his medicine. Kuykendall then stated that he does not like to take his medicine because he can not do his schoolwork when he takes the medicine. Kuykendall then stated that the other male subject tried to hit him with a hammer and kill him. Other deputies arrived on scene, and Kuykendall was detained, and deputies entered the residence to locate the other male subject.

Deputies then announced themselves and entered the residence. Deputies then heard a male subject telling them that he was in the bedroom. Deputies then began walking in the residence and noticed blood on the floor from the kitchen area leading down a short hallway to the bedroom where the other male subject, [VICTIM #1], was found sitting on the floor with blood all over his body. Blood was all over the floor in the area where [VICTIM #1] was sitting. Bartow County Fire arrived on scene and started attending to [VICTIM #1]. Metro EMS then arrived on scene and was attending to [VICTIM #1].

[VICTIM #1] stated that he was trying to get Kuykendall to take his medicine with breakfast when Kuykendall became upset and started hitting him with a hammer. [VICTIM #1] then stated that Kuykendall struck him on his head with the hammer about 15 times. [VICTIM #1] also had some wounds in his stomach and back area that appeared to be stab wounds from a knife. [VICTIM #1] was then transported to Floyd Hospital for his injuries. I then noticed blood smeared on the lower part of the walls between the kitchen and the bedroom where [VICTIM #1] was found. It appeared that [VICTIM #1] had crawled from the kitchen to the bedroom, smearing blood on the walls as he was crawling.

A knife was found lying on the kitchen counter with dried blood on the blade. Pictures were taken of [VICTIM #1]’s injuries and the blood on the floor and walls inside the residence. Due to not being able to interview [VICTIM #1] because of his injuries and being transported, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office CID was contacted. The outside of the residence was then marked off with crime scene tape, and a crime scene log was started. Kuykendall was then transported to the Bartow County Jail and released to the jail staff. CID investigators arrived on scene, and the incident was turned over to them—nothing further to report.
