On Thursday, June 23, 2022, at approximately 0015 hours, I was investigating a vehicle, 1998 red Ford Explorer bearing GA license, that was involved in a shoplifting case at 501 N Tennessee Street, Circle K. Upon investigating the vehicle, it was learned that some of the stolen property was inside the vehicle.

I made contact with the passenger, Mr, Frederick Dodson. I explained the reason that I was speaking with him and placed him into handcuffs to the rear. The handcuffs were checked for fit and double locked.

Mr. Dodson was searched incident to arrest when I located a small clear wrapper in the front pocket of his pants. The small clear wrapper, which appeared to be the wrapper for a pack of cigarettes, had 5 orange pills with “970” imprinted on them.

Mr. Dodson stated they were “Suboxone” and they he had just picked them up for someone and holding on to them. Mr. Dodson stated that he did not wish to speak to DTF. DTF was contacted and notified of the incident.

Mr. Dodson was transported to Bartow County Jail without incident. My issued marked vehicle was checked at the start of shift, before and after each transport, with no contraband located.

A warrant was secured for Mr. Dodson for possession of schedule 3 substance and drugs to kept in the original container. Copies of the warrants were scanned into the case file.

Photos of the “Suboxone” were attached to the case file. The pills were placed into evidence and GBI Evidence Submission form was completed.

The incident was captured on my department issued body worn camera.

No further.
