On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at approximately 1917 hours, I was dispatched to 902 Joe Frank Harris Pkwy (Circle K) for a theft in progress. Upon my arrival, I spoke to the caller, identified as Mr. Jerry Anderson. Mr. Anderson stated that he took a 12-pack of 16-oz Miller Lite Beer without paying for it.
Mr. Anderson was sitting outside the store drinking a 16oz Miller Lite Beer when I arrived. Mr. Anderson stated he was homeless and wanted to go to jail. Mr. Anderson informed me that he entered the store, grabbed the 12-pack of beer, and exited past all final points of sale. Mr. Anderson advised me that he informed the store clerk and he refused to call 911.
Mr. Anderson stated that the clerk handed him the phone and told him to call 911. Mr. Anderson informed me that he contacted 911 himself. The Clerk stated that after speaking to Mr. Anderson, he wished to press charges. I placed Mr. Anderson into handcuffs behind the back, checked for fit, and double locked for safety.
A search of Mr. Anderson was conducted, yielding negative of weapons and contraband. I placed Mr. Anderson in the back of my department-issued patrol vehicle, which is searched before and after transport, yielding negative of contraband. I transported Mr. Anderson to 104 Zena Dr (Bartow County Jail) for housing. A warrant (W-CE-0180719) for theft by taking (shoplifting, M) was obtained.
