On Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 at 0004 hours I was dispatched to the intersection of Patricia Drive and Creek Trail, Acworth, GA 30102 in reference to a suicide threat.
Upon arrival I located a female later identified as Joanna Dickson crying sitting in the intersection at Creek Trail and Clark Circle. I asked Joanna what had happened tonight to make her so upset. Joanna stated her husband, Kevin Dickson had found out she had cheated on him and was angry with her. Joanna stated her roommates, [WITNESS #1], [WITNESS #2], and [WITNESS #3] were mad at her for cheating on Kevin, and told her she needed to leave, so she said she would kill herself and left walking. Joanna stated while she was walking out [WITNESS #1] had pushed her.
I gave Joanna a ride back to their residence at [6300 BLOCK] Patricia Drive, but requested consent to search her and her purse before placing her in my patrol vehicle, and she consented. A search of Joanna’s purse yielded one loose pill printed with CL022, suspected to be Soma, a schedule IV controlled substance. Joanna stated she was prescribed this medication, but did not have her pill bottle, or any proof of being prescribed this medication. Joanna was placed under arrest in handcuffs to the rear, and was placed in the rear of my patrol vehicle.
Upon arrival I met with [WITNESS #1], [WITNESS #2], and [WITNESS #3]. I asked [WITNESS #1] if she had pushed Joanna during the argument, and she stated no, she only placed her hands on Joanna’s shoulders to try to calm her down. [WITNESS #2] and [WITNESS #3] stated they witnessed this incident, and [WITNESS #1] never pushed Joanna. I asked if anyone else was in the residence, and they stated not that they knew of. I asked [WITNESS #1] for consent to search the residence for anyone else inside, and she consented.
While searching the residence I located Kevin in [WITNESS #3]’s bedroom. Kevin stated there was no domestic disturbance, and he was just upset due to Joanna cheating on him. A GCIC check of Kevin revealed two active probation violation warrants, one out of Villa Rica, and one out of Carroll County. These warrants were confirmed by Bartow dispatch. Kevin was placed under arrest in handcuffs to the rear, and placed in the rear of Deputy Russo’s #916 patrol vehicle where he was transported to the Bartow County Jail and turned over to jail staff without incident.
I transported Joanna to the Bartow County Jail where she was turned over to jail staff without further incident. On call DTP Agent, Seargent Adcock #732 was notified of this incident. A warrant has been secured for possession of a schedule IV controlled substance. The pill was submitted into evidence.
