On Thursday, 04-24-2024 at 0740 hours, Bartow County 911 received a phone call from Floyd/Advent Hospital in reference to a complainant of possible child abuse.
I spoke to Nurse [WITNESS #1] via telephone. She stated that a juvenile/[REDACTED BY AGENCY] was in their care and it was determined that he had ingested methamphetamine (possibly liquid). The mother/Maggie Mason was at the hospital with the child. Maggie told [WITNESS #1] that she had just recently moved back into her parent’s residence at [100 BLOCK] Bunch Mountain Rd Adairsville, GA. Maggie further stated that she had located a “bubbler” that contained methamphetamine inside it that was located in the bedroom that she had moved into. She said the prior occupant of that room was a drug user and she was afraid to move the “bubbler” for fear that it would trigger her past drug addiction.
Maggie also told [WITNESS #1] that she had another child/[REDACTED BY AGENCY] eight months old, that is with the father/Aaron Collum that left the residence and was at an unknown location at this time. She said that Aaaron would have gone to a “safe place” away from the residence at [100 BLOCK] Bunch Mountain Rd Adairsville, GA.
It should be noted that at 0543 hours on 04/24/2025, Bartow County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to the residence for the initial complaint of a medical call for a one year old that was possibly having a seizure. Law enforcement was not dispatched to the scene at that time due to it being considered a medical call at that time.
I contacted Investigator Phillip Abernathy with the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation and made him aware of the incident. We were notified by [WITNESS #1] that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and Maggie were being transported to Scottish Rite by ambulance. The case was turned over to the criminal investigation division for further investigation.
