On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at approximately 1538 hours, I spoke with Victim via telephone call through Bartow County dispatch in reference to a physical altercation that occurred on 04/05/26 at approximately 0100 hours at the Crown Inn located at 1214 N Tennessee St.
Victim stated she was in a physical altercation with one of her friends, Mr. Askew, at the above location on the previous date.
Victim stated that she and Mr. Larry Askew were at the Crown Inn when Mr. Askew noticed a text message from another male come across her phone screen while her phone was sitting on the bed.
Victim stated that Mr. Askew then became irate and grabbed her phone and threw it across the room. Victim stated she ran over to her phone and picked it up off the floor. Mr. Askew then snatched the phone out of her hands and proceeded to throw the phone approximately 3 more times before the phone was broken and unusable.
Victim stated she kept asking Mr. Askew for her phone back, and Mr. Askew kept refusing to give it back before attacking Victim stated that he had grabbed her left forearm, scratching her arm when he grabbed it. Victim stated Mr. Askew also hit her in the mouth, causing her lip to swell and start bleeding.
Victim states that after Mr. Askew had stopped attacking her, she attempted to leave when Mr. Askew stepped in front of the door, preventing her from leaving at her own free will. Victim stated Mr. Askew prevented her from leaving till he had fallen asleep. Victim stated she was then able to leave without Mr. Askew noticing.
Due to this incident occurring several days ago, the swelling had gone down on Victim’s lip and started to heal, but still had bruising to the area, and the scratch had begun healing. Victim stated she would take photos of her phone and inquiries and send them via the Coreforce upload link due to the report being made over the phone, since she was not near the City of Cartersville.
When I asked Victim had waited to call 911, she stated she was unsure what she was able to do and wanted to know if anything could be done since he refused to pay for her phone.
I asked Victim if she and Mr. Askew had ever lived together. Victim stated they had not ever lived together, stating “they were only friends”.
Victim stated she wished to pursue charges against Mr. Askew.
Contact was made with Mr. Askew via telephone. I asked Mr. Askew if he was with Victim on the previous date. Mr. Askew confirmed he was with Victim on the previous date.
I requested Mr. Askew to come to the Cartersville police department to speak about an incident that occurred on the previous date. Mr. Askew agreed and stated he would be at the police department in 30 minutes.
Mr. Askew called Bartow County dispatch, requesting to speak with me. I spoke with Mr. Askew an additional 2 times at approximately 1645 hours and 1708 hours, stating he was 20 minutes away. Mr. Askew did not arrive at the police department within either of the times he provided.
Additionally, each time I spoke with Mr. Askew, he stated he was coming from a different address in each conversation.
I attempted to contact Mr. Askew back at 1845 hours, and was unable to make contact with Mr. Askew due to his phone number no longer working. Due to Mr. Askew’s not arriving at the Cartersville Police Department, I was unable to get Mr. Askew’s testimony on the incident.
Due to testimonial evidence and photos provided by Victim, warrants were taken for Mr. Askew.
An electronic warrant for Mr. Askew was requested and granted by the Honorable Judge Bart Mitcham, from the Magistrate Court of Bartow County, State of Georgia. The active and valid warrants are as follows:
- OCGA -16-5-23(1)(A) Battery. Warrant # CE-0180064
