On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at approximately 0848 hours, I was dispatched to 825 West Ave (Ingles Market) in reference to a subject stealing items. The business also was requesting the same subject to be trespassed.

Upon arrival, I was made aware of the suspect’s location by the employees pointing in the area of the cafe. I made contact with the suspect, later identified as Tara Virginia Patrice Davis. Ms. Davis stated she was waiting for her husband and took a biscuit over to this location to eat while waiting. Ms. Davis stated that she was going to pay for the item.

Ms. Davis stated that she was confronted by an employee about the item and they began to argue. Ms. Davis stated that someone advised that they would pay for the biscuit prior to my arrival. Ms. Davis’ identification was ran through Bartow County 911 and it revealed that she had a possible warrant through Bartow County for Theft by Taking.

I placed Ms. Davis into handcuffs and checked for proper fit while waiting for conformation of the warrant. Ms. Davis was read Miranda Warning and began nodding her head saying, “yeah yeah yeah” and when asked if she understood her rights she stated, “no I do not understand. can we just go to jail?”

I asked Ms. Davis if she had anything in her possession that would cause issues at the jail and she stated that she had marijuana and meth. Ms. Davis stated that it was a in a small zipper bag that was attached to her shirt. The bag did contain a small clear plastic baggy containing a crystal like substance.

Also inside the zipper bag was a green leafy substance with the distinct odor of suspected marijuana. Ms. Davis stated that she also had a pipe in her purse. After a search of Ms. Davis’ purse a glass smoking pipe with residue was located. Ms. Davis’ warrant was confirmed through Cartersville Admin Services, warrant number.

Ms. Davis was transported and turned over to the Bartow County Jail staff for housing. I took possession of the evidence on scene and it was entered into evidence at the Cartersville Police Department. The suspected methamphetamine was weighed at the Cartersville Police Department to be approximately 0.8 grams.

The marijuana was placed into evidence to be destroyed. Warrants were obtained for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Related Objects. Ms. Davis was also issued a Criminal Trespass Warning for 825 West Ave (Ingles Market). A copy of Ms. Davis’ warrants were attached to this report.
