On May 11th, 2025 I was dispatched to [20 BLOCK] Bartlett Drive, Cartersville, Georgia 30120 in reference to a domestic. I was notified by dispatch the domestic was physical and the male, who was later identified as Tristin Herrin, had a knife. Tristin had punched the female, who was later identified as [VICTIM #1], in the face causing her to bleed. [VICTIM #1] told dispatchers she was able to lock herself in the bathroom, however, Tristin was actively trying to break the door down.

Upon my arrival, I gave a loud knock on the door announcing Sheriff’s Office. I was then notified by dispatch the male had broken the bathroom door and was now with the female holding a knife. Due to the immediate danger that [VICTIM #1] was in, I kicked the door in, forcing entry into the residence and made contact with Tristin in the living area next to his bedroom door. [VICTIM #1] was in close proximity to Tristin when I made contact and she appeared to be in obvious distress. Tristin was given loud verbal commands was placed in handcuffs and escorted to the rear seat of my patrol car without incident. I called for Bartow Fire and Metro EMS to respond to the scene for injuries and evaluate both Tristin and [VICTIM #1].

I observed several broken doors with the frames busted in the house to include the master bedroom door, the bathroom door, and there was a separate door in the bathroom where the toilet was, where [VICTIM #1] was ultimately hiding was also broken. It appeared Tristin had broken three separate doors to get to [VICTIM #1].

I spoke with [VICTIM #1] and she stated at 0300 hours they began arguing in the living area. [VICTIM #1] stated they were both sitting on the couch, when Tristin made a comment, “I bet [REDACTED] would understand.” [VICTIM #1] stated [REDACTED] is her best friend and was not involved with the incident. [VICTIM #1] stated she became upset at the comment and walked to her bedroom. She stated her walking away from the argument angered Tristin. Tristin walked into the kitchen and began punching himself in the face. [VICTIM #1] said she pulled her cell phone out and took video of Tristin’s behavior. She said she wanted to show him in the morning about his behavior as it was scaring her. [VICTIM #1] stated Tristin had caught her recording her and Tristin grabbed her by the throat and slammed her on her back. According to [VICTIM #1], Tristin thought she was blackmailing him. [VICTIM #1] said once she was slammed on the ground by Tristin her phone came out of her pocket and Tristin deleted the video off her phone. [VICTIM #1] stated she had left the house after this incident and walked to the front of the neighborhood. Tristin had made threats to her, saying if you do not come back I’m going to call the police and list you as missing and they will arrest you.

[VICTIM #1] stated when she returned to the house, and while standing in the driveway. Tristin had a knife in his hand pointed at her, and said what guy were you talking to. Tristin began accusing her of cheating on him. [VICTIM #1] stated when she got into the house Tristin came at her with the knife and she was able feel the blade pressed up to her chest. [VICTIM #1] stated she was scared and called her mother before making the call to 911. Once she was on the phone with her she was told to hang up and call 911. [VICTIM #1] stated after she had the knife pressed up to her chest, Tristin then walked to the kitchen and began hurting himself and screaming. [VICTIM #1] stated she went into the master bedroom and locked the door, then went into the bathroom and also locked both doors inside the bathroom. Tristin busted down the door pleading for help from [VICTIM #1] and stated he was bleeding out from an artery. [VICTIM #1] stated once Tristin broke down the bathroom door, when he realized she was on the phone with 911. [VICTIM #1] said Tristin told her he needed help and to call 911. [VICTIM #1] stated that was when law enforcement kicked the front door in and made contact with Tristin.

I observed dry blood in [VICTIM #1]’s nose. [VICTIM #1] stated she was punched by Tristin in the altercation. [VICTIM #1] stated she had to place her shoulder back into place. [VICTIM #1] complained of pain on her left shoulder. Metro EMS advised she had full range of motion and it was not dislocated. [VICTIM #1] refused transport to the hospital according to Metro EMS.

Tristin was read his Miranda Rights, to which he understood, and did not want to make any statements to law enforcement.

Tristin was then placed under arrest.

I returned back inside of the residence. A knife sheath was located by the door, and a large fixed blade knife was located in the living room on the coffee table, that was collected for evidence. Blood splatter was located on the floor leading into the master bedroom. The master bedroom door frame had been broken. I observed interior dry wall damages from the doors being busted from the frames in the bedroom and leading into the bathroom. The bathroom door frame was busted along with a second door that closed off the toilet. That door also had holes in the door, what appears like it had been punched. [VICTIM #1] stated approximately 1000 dollars of damage to repair. I took photos of the scene via body camera. [VICTIM #1] also completed a sworn statement.

Tristin was transported to Bartow Jail and turned over to jail staff without incident. My interior car camera was down, however, my body camera was activated throughout transport. I secured warrants for Tristin for Aggravated Assault FVA, Criminal Damage to Property 1st FVA, and Battery FVA. The knife was logged and placed into evidence.
